Blogging In The New Year

I have noticed that a lot of people are setting goals for blogging in 2015.

My ultimate goal is to just be honest, I feel that I did a pretty good job this year. I tend to not sugar coat things but I also do not air too much dirty laundry on here.

However, there are three things that I will continue to not talk about because they just cause issues.

1. Politics: To be honest I don't care about anyone's political affiliations and I am pretty sure they don't care about mine.

2. Religion: This is always a hot button subject that I refuse talk about, it creates an awkward situation and it can easily offend people. I don't mind reading religious centered posts but I don't feel I can contribute in any way.

3. Money: This is such a taboo subject, it makes me uncomfortable to talk about.

I am excited however to see what 2015 has to offer, no matter what it is going to be a good year. Well, I am sure there will be low points but that is okay.

Do you have any blogging goals for 2015?

Don't forget whatever your plans are please be safe! :)

  1. I agree, there are certain things that are off limits. I keep politics and most current events that I have an opinion about off, because I just don't want to deal with unnecessary drama.

Cheers to a new year, lady!

  2. I also always follow the rule that what I blog about has to be okay if my boss or my grandma would read it. If I wouldn't want either of them reading it, I probably shouldn't publish that on the internet. :)

  3. I've decided in 2015 I am going to blog in a way that provides an outlet for me and provides a way of documenting our family life. I'm not going to worry about anything else!

  4. I actually don't have any blogging goals for 2015. My goal is to just enjoy 2015 as it comes!

  7. I totally agree with you. I never share my opinions on politics or religion. I feel like it's just asking for trouble. They are my personal views and I prefer to keep them that way. :) Anyway, Happy new Year!!!! Hope 2015 sends you lots of joy.

  8. I think it's cool that you have a few topics to stay away from - because you know your limits! Some people don't think about those things! Happy 2015! :)

  9. Not sure what difference there will be in my blogging. Thought about doing a few articles with photos attached. I don't do politics. My husband can go on and on about stuff like that and I get a bit annoyed. Happy New Year!!!

  10. My blogging goal is just to blog again. I wasn't into it this past year very much (big life things have that affect on me) but now that I'm settled into school and California, I want to get back to it!

I hope you are having a great start to the new year!

  12. I think being honest on the blog is a very good (and sometimes brave) goal. It can be hard to just get everything out there.

  14. I never make blogging goals, but I do agree that it's {in my mind} off limits to talk about politics and religion. I'm okay talking about money in budgeting/financial planning type scenarios, but just talking about how much or little money you have is definitely a terrible idea.

  15. Wonderfully said, Jen! I do write about our lives as Atheists sometimes, especially since it seems there are many aspects of life that we have a different twist on, but that's it. I'm not here to convince people to become Atheists and cannot stand if people try to convince me of their religion on my blog (honest discussion is always welcome though). But seriously, who is actually discussing their money on their blog? I'm happy about our income and are happy if other people make ends meet and can afford the things they need and/or want. Period :-) Can't wait to read more of you in 2015!
