New York 2012

Since last weekend we have been crazy busy! We decided last minute to go to the Jason Aldean concert and we are so glad we did! Luke Bryan and Lauren Alaina opened up for him and we had awesome seats:

Awesome!!!!

On Monday Kyle and I boarded a train and headed off to NYC. We were excited for this trip as neither one of us had been. We had an AMAZING time!!!! Here is a breakdown of our trip with some pictures.

Monday- Arrived in NYC at 11:30pm. We headed off to our hotel and got some rest before the walking began the next day.

Tuesday- We headed off to Battery Park so we could catch the ferry to Ellis Island and Liberty Island. It was such an incredible experience because of all the history on both of these islands. Here are a few pictures:

After we got back to the city we decided to walk back to our hotel (about 4 miles). On our way we decided to go see the 9/11 Memorial. What an amazing experience and one that neither of us will ever forget!!!

North Pool

Once we got back to the hotel we decided to talk to the Concierge about getting tickets to a broadway show for Wednesday. We were able to get an amazing dinner/show package to see "Wicked"!!! We had dinner at a delicious diner down the street and ended the night full and happy.

Wednesday- We ended up going to Pier 17 and see the BODIES exhibit. For anyone that doesn't know what this is, it is an exhibit that actually has real human bodies. It breaks the body down and shows all the smallest details, it was awesome! I highly recommend it.We then went to Central Park where I got the see this amazing statue:

After we finished up Central Park we went to a place my sister recommended called "Dylan's Candy Bar". WOW!!! Over 7,000 different types of candy and goodies. We went upstairs to the cafe and had this:

s'mores!

We were so full and decided to walk back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We went to this amazing Italian restaurant called Alfredo of Rome. We had an amazing 3-course meal and enjoyed each others company. Once we were done at dinner we were off to see "Wicked".

Us at Rockefeller center

Our seats were amazing!!!!

This show was spectacular!!!!! It was very overwhelming and just overall amazing! I will definitely see it again. I love everything about it.

Thursday- This was our last full day in the city and we headed off the see the Empire State Building. It was awesome!! I am really afraid of heights but I felt surprisingly calm.

We were able to meet up with a few friends of ours that uses to live at Bragg. Brian was Kyle's former company commander and ended up becoming a good friend along with his wife Carrie. It was great to see familiar faces. After lunch we went to Serendipity 3 and had this:

Delicious!!!!!!

We were sad to leave NYC but so glad to get home! Kyle has some more time off and I am having my eye surgery on Thursday!

I hope you all are having a great weekend so far!!!

Finally!!

What an eventful week this has been for me and Kyle. On Tuesday, I headed up to Raleigh for my lasik consultation here:

I can honestly say that this was one of the best experience I have ever had with any kind of doctor. The entire staff was amazing!! They did 9 different tests on my eyes to make sure they were healthy and a good candidate. The doctor came in and told me that I was the perfect candidate for all bladeless lasik!!!! I couldn't imagine going anywhere else to have the surgery done. I am scheduled to have surgery on February 2nd!! I am so close to not wearing glasses or contacts anymore.

For the last few years that Kyle has been with the 82nd Airborne his main goals were to complete Jumpmaster school (which he did in 2009) and complete 30 jumps to gain his Senior Parachutist Wings.

Now 30 jumps in an airborne division sounds easy but with so many different requirements and so many people it is hard to come by. Last night it finally happened, Kyle was the Assistant Jumpmaster on a jump and successfully completed his 30th jump! I am so proud of him for all he has accomplished now we can look forward to the pinning ceremony (which should be tomorrow or friday).

We have a Hail and Farewell tomorrow night and we are anticipating it to be a pretty long night. It is being held at a delicious Russian restaurant that we have been to before. I can't wait!!

I hope everyone is having a great week so far!!!

Decisions, Decisions

Over the last few years I have been going back and forth on a pretty big decision for myself. After a conversation with Kyle this week, I finally decided that I am going to go ahead and pursue:

LASIK EYE SURGERY!!!!

I have been wearing glasses since I was a freshman in high school (so that is 12 years now) and I am beyond ready to get rid of them. I was initially going to wait until we moved to Arizona but just couldn't wait anymore. I am headed up to Raleigh on Tuesday for my consultation. I am anxious, excited and ready for this to happen. I am hoping that if all goes well that I will have my surgery the last week of January.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Crazy Happenings!

I am so happy that it is finally the weekend! I feel like I have been going non-stop all week and yesterday was no exception. I headed up to Kyle's work for the Bravo Battery Change of Command, it was good to see everyone and welcome in their new commander. Afterwards I headed to lunch with our battalion commanders wife and a few other ladies, it was nice to just relax with some good company and good food.

Last night Kyle and I had our monthly bingo date (yes we are old haha). We always have such a great time and it doesn't matter if we win or lose. As the night went on we got down to our last few games and I remember Kyle leaning over and saying "I just need one more number!" and sure enough it was called! He was so excited that he won (he claims he never wins anything) and he collected his winnings. We thought that was going to be the most exciting part of our night, but boy were we wrong.

At about midnight, we were up watching tv and all of the sudden someone rang our doorbell. Of course after what happened while Kyle was deployed I freaked out. He looked out the peephole and there was no one there. I immediately called the police to report it. Kyle went upstairs to see if he could see anyone and low and behold he saw two people crouching behind our neighbors car trying to hide. About 2 minutes later when they thought they were in the clear they started walking down our street so we went outside to get them to stop. Thankfully the MP's showed up right away and we found out that they were 16 year old kids staying with their brother in another neighborhood, they had no ID's on them and we were out past curfew. The MP's took our statements and information and took the kids back to their brothers house. It was nice to know that the MP's take this seriously and handled the situation.

I am going to relax the rest of the weekend and lounge around the house. I am going to be really busy the next two weeks so I am taking advantage of this down time. Kyle is headed up to Durham right now helping out a friend of ours, so I am sitting in my jammies watching netflix.

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Birthday Girl!

Today is a very special birthday, our baby girl, Emma, turns 8 years old.

Some people think we are crazy but this dog is our precious baby girl. I have had her since she was 6 weeks old and I wouldn't know what to do without her. She is from a litter of puppies from my Mom's dog CC (and their other dog Scoop). I remember the morning she was born and my mom called me and said "Your baby girl, Emma, is here!" Since that day she has been an amazing addition to our lives.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

Happy New Year!!!

Happy 2012 Everyone!

I can honestly say that I am beyond happy that 2011 is over! Kyle had a few days off over the holidays and we definitely took advantage of the time together. We went bowling, played video games, relaxed at home and the best part was our couples massage!

I have a feeling this year will have many wonderful things happening.

In a few weeks Kyle has some leave time coming up and we decided to use some of that time to go here:

New York!!!

Neither one of us has ever been so we are so excited!! We decided instead of flying or driving that we are going to take this:

Amtrak Train

It will be such a fun trip and a chance for us to do some sightseeing. I wish the time would fly by so we can  get there!!

We also have something else to look forward to and that is our PCS to:

Yay!!!!

We are so excited to get out of NC! It will be a nice change of scenery in Arizona and so great to only be 8 hours away from home. We will get to see our families a lot and we can't wait!! We are keeping our fingers crossed that after our 7 months in Arizona we will get PCS orders to Fort Carson. Only time will tell!

Well I am off to get dinner started, hope everyone is having a great day!!!
