I Wish

Today marks 10 weeks in this pregnancy and for us double digits is a huge milestone! I am starting to feel better which is amazing and my energy is slowly coming back which is nice because I am starting 2 more Grad School classes next week. You don't have to ask, yes I am crazy. ;)

Since we found out we were expecting there has been one thing constantly on my mind and I am certain it will always be on my mind. I am sad that I will never get to share this experience with my Mom. I wish she was here to see this miracle finally happening because she wanted this so much for us. I am sad that our baby will never have that special relationship with their grandma but I will make sure everyday that they know how much she wanted to be there for them and how much she loves them even though she isn't here. I will share stories about her and make sure this baby knows who she is and that her memory never fades.

Me and my Mom a few days after I was born.

I am so grateful that this baby will have so many amazing family members that will spoil them and love them but there will always be that wishing that my Mom was here to share in that joy as well. We have decided that if this little one is a girl she will share the same middle name as my Mom, which is Kay.

I do however know my Mom is looking down on us and smiling.

Memories on Monday

I have to say that I am loving my TimeHop this week, it's bringing back all the amazing memories from our trip to NYC is 2012. Kyle had returned from deployment in November and we wanted to take a memorable trip together.

We hopped the Amtrak and made the 12 hour journey from NC to NYC for a week. Neither one of us had been so it was amazing to explore the city together.

On the Ferry heading to Liberty Island.

9/11 Memorial

My favorite statue in Central Park, Alice in Wonderland.

S'mores at Dylan's Candy Bar

You can't pass up a chance for dessert at Serendipity III

Our dream of seeing a musical on Broadway was fulfilled, Wicked was amazing!

Rockefeller Center was beautiful at night, you can't really tell but it was still decorated for Christmas.

I hope we have the chance to go back again at some point, even though we hit all of the tourist spots, I am sure there are diamonds in the rough that we missed.

This trip holds some of my most favorite memories!

Happy Monday!

Taking The Plunge

A few days ago I finally did something that I didn't think I would have to do at this moment in my pregnancy, I am 9 weeks and already had to buy maternity pants! I haven't gained a ton of weight but my normal pants are just too tight so I was stuck with yoga pants and leggings. After a while that just gets annoying. Thank goodness for Old Navy and the sales they have been having lately, I got a few pair of jeans so hopefully it makes wearing normal clothes much better. I won't feel like such a mess leaving the house haha.

I also bought a few dresses and shirts just to keep up with my growing self. I think part of me is still in a state of shock that this is actually happening which is normal. My level of tired is off the charts though and I wake up feeling like this most mornings.

Thankfully the body pillow has helped me get comfortable but I wake up at 4am and can never fall back asleep. Naps are a must during the day and I wake up usually seeing this face. :)

I am feeling pretty good today so hopefully I can get some stuff done around the house.

Hope you all have an awesome day! :)

What's Up?!

I feel like I haven't done a proper update (besides baby updates, which I will never get tired of lol) on what is going on in our lives.

*I am in week 7 of my statistics class and I am so glad! This class has kicked my butt and all I have left is a 12 page paper that I need to get started on. I am sure it will go right down to the wire but I'll get it done.

*Kyle is back in the field but we are so thankful that in a few months he will be changing jobs. You know what that means?! No more time in the field! It has been a long 13 months and it will be nice to have more time together.

*I am heading to Florida at the beginning of February to see my sister and the kiddos, it will be nice to see them for a week.

*I am putting together a small list of races that I want to complete over the next few months. Thankfully our local area has a few 5k's that are happening, the upside is that I can walk them if I'm not feeling great.

*Emma and I have been trying to go on more walks lately, we have been lucky with our weather. It's been sunny and in the 50's lately. However, today Emma was faced with something she has never seen before:

Horses! Fort Polk has approximately 100 wild horses that roam the area, typically they stay in the training areas but lately they have been venturing out into more populated areas. Emma had a nervous breakdown and was barking and howling haha.

*I feel like I am finally getting back into a flow after the holidays. The house is back in order and now it's time to take care of all the adult things lol like vehicle maintenance, etc. Cheers to being an adult!

I hope you all had a great weekend!!! :)

Week 8

Well, I am officially 8 weeks along and some days it feels like we just found out and others like we have known for a long time.

We were lucky enough to have another ultrasound yesterday and it was pure bliss. Let me just say the time it takes the doctor to take all the appropriate measures feels like an eternity, he was so quiet and then he turned the screen and we saw this squirmy little precious thing. He said everything looks perfect and is where it should be and the heartbeat was a strong and beautiful 175bpm. We are looking at an estimated due date of August 24th!

We are just thrilled!

I figured I would finally share a belly pic, please excuse the horrendous post shower face and hair lol. This little one is certainly making their presence known, for the first few hours of every morning I am down for the count. I have to eat crackers before I can even get out of bed. Usually once 11am hits I feel pretty good and get some stuff done.

I have a few food aversions, anything with a red pasta sauce is not happening and most ice creams aren't agreeing with me. However, french fries, mashed potatoes, popcorn, and fruit popsicles are pure joy haha.

I can no longer fit into my jeans, I used the belly band a few times but it's so uncomfortable that I opt for yoga pants or maxi dresses. I know right now most of it is bloating but there is certainly a bump. :) Kyle is still picking up a lot of slack when it comes to cooking and cleaning, it has been amazing.

I go back in 4 weeks for my 12 week appointment and I know it's going to be just as exciting as the appointment yesterday. :)

Happy Thursday everyone!!

Some Thoughts

Emma and I spent most of the weekend like this, bundled up in blankets on the couch. This darling baby of ours sure likes to make his/her presence known. I was however able to get some homework done and that was the extent of my productive behavior haha.

Speaking of this precious little one, Kyle had his first followup appointment for his surgery last week. Now we assumed it had worked because surprise I'm pregnant but we didn't know the numbers and if it truly had an impact. Kyle sat down with his doctor and gave her the news, he said her eyes got really big and a huge smile on her face. Then she did the math and looked at his current numbers, his motility was greatly impacted in a positive way and we are are 99.9% sure that this surgery is what made this miracle happen! Words cannot describe how grateful we are for his doctor and that she finally was able to figure this all out. We owe her so much!

On a completely unrelated note I started watching Making A Murderer on Netflix.

I am only a few episodes in right now and my mind is blown, I really have no idea what to think. I finish every episode experiencing a wide range of emotions and I do not know how to process them. It's intense, horrifying, sad, angering, and heartbreaking all at the same time.

Kyle goes back into the field this week so I am sure I will finish it up by the weekend.

Not much else is happening in our neck of the woods, it's pretty quiet for the most part. I am venturing out to a Change of Command with Kyle tomorrow so hopefully that goes well.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Goals For 2016

As it stands right now 2016 is going to be a pretty exciting year, but I still wanted to sit down and set some goals for myself. Most people I know aren't a fan of resolutions, however when they are translated into goals they don't seem as daunting.

Here are my goals for the year.

*Continue to have a happy and healthy pregnancy. Even with being sick I know how extremely lucky I am to be experiencing this miracle and I will never take it for granted.

*Finish at least 5 more grad school classes. I am registered for classes through May and I am likely going to take a break right before and right after the baby is born.

*Start reading more. I have slacked for the last few years because I have been focused on textbooks but now I want to start reading for me. Thanks to a good portion of my fellow bloggers, I have a pretty long list to start from.

*Complete 1-2 races this year, this could be anywhere from a 5k to a half it all depends on how I feel.

*Declutter and organize the house, we have so much random stuff that either needs to be donated or thrown out.

*Enjoy every moment with family and friends, and to not take anything for granted.

I am looking forward to a pretty awesome 2016!

Happy Wednesday!

Special Birthday Wishes

Happy 12th Birthday to our 1st "baby" Emma! She has been with us through so much and has always been such a source of comfort and love. She was my first foray into true responsibility when I was 18 and she has been by my side ever since.

I couldn't imagine our lives without her. Here is to another 12 years!
