let's get crafty

Before I show you pictures of the pretty awesome craft I did yesterday I have to share a huge milestone for me. Most of you know that I am NOT a fan of running at all. I decided yesterday I was just going to suck it up and run. I ran 1.5 miles without stopping or passing out haha. I was really proud of myself and plan on bumping it up everyday.

Ok now onto my craft, I made bottle cap coasters. Kyle had 18 of them laying around upstairs in his man cave so I put them to good use. Armed with a mold, some resin and bottle caps here is what I made:

Waiting for it to cure

After 2 hours this is the final product! I opted to not use clear resin because I figured they would look better darker to go in Kyle's man cave. I am so happy with them and Kyle loves them. The last touch was to get the little plastic bumpers for the bottom. I just need 18 more bottle caps to make 2 more.

I hope you all have a great Sunday and a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  3. Love those coasters, they are perfect for a man cave. I might copy those and make a couple for my Dad'S birthday. Not so good for the hubby, he doesn't allow drinks in his man cave due to multi-thousand dollar instruments :-)

  6. Well tell him to get poppin some bottles! Lol.
I like that a lot! We want to do a little man cave/ office craft room with our 3rd bedroom and that seems right up Paul's alley. He'd be more then happy to drink a lot of beer for a craft ;)

  8. Congrats on the running! I always felt so accomplished when I saw the mileage "behind" me.

I love those coasters. Where'd you get the mold (and the resin for that matter)?

  9. What a great weekend you've had! I felt like a boss just WALKING the same distance you did, ha! :) And great job on the coasters. Those kinds of projects still intimidate my lack of craftiness.

  24. too cute! crafting with bottle caps is really neat! Hubs sends me pics of windchimes he wants made out of the hundreds of caps he has collected and my youngest and I have made pins to pin on his book bag from rootbeer ones! Way to go on running! It takes some serious dedication when you first start out, I know you've got in you!!! Keep it up chicka! Excited for you :)
