Life Lately

I feel like we are finally getting settled back into our routine after having a wonderful long weekend with family. It's nice to be back in the swing things and to continue on with the year.

Here is a quick catch up of some other things we have been up to.

Last week, Kyle and I had the opportunity to enjoy a few hours out together. We attended the Commandant's reception for the school, it was nice to get a little dressed up and meet some of Kyle's fellow classmates. Shout out to our friend, Lauren, who watched E for us so we could attend.
E had to get shots and blood drawn on Wednesday. I was okay with the shots but the blood draw pushed me over the edge. I ugly cried and believe me so did she. She was a trooper and tolerated a grocery shopping trip and a few others errands. She was happily delirious haha.
A few days ago we decided to stop at a local farm to see some sunflowers! They are popular in Kansas but we had no desire to drive a significant distance just to see them. This farm was small but beautiful and we snapped a few pictures.
We also went to an Apple Orchard! Usually during the day while Kyle is in class or home studying/reading we try to find fun things to do with friends. We picked apples and bought some apple crumble topping. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon.
We are back to our normal race schedule this weekend. Kyle will be participating in a mud run tomorrow and we are running the Plaza 10k on Sunday in Kansas City. From what I have read it's the largest 10k in Kansas and Missouri. It's the first in a 3 race series that we are participating in. It should be a great event!

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

  1. That's one reason I don't give blood, I don't think I could take seeing it or imagining it in my head while it's done.

  2. It's always harder to see them drawing blood from your child than yourself, it's like you can feel their pain.

  3. Love those sunflowers.
Poor baby. Our pug Maddie feels her pain! Every time they draw blood from her paw, she screams like a little baby.

  5. Oh I can't imagine the torture of seeing a sweet little baby have blood drawn, so sorry! Those sunflowers look so pretty! Enjoy your races this weekend!

  6. I still don't like blood draws and have to do them 2x a year. Having a baby that has a blood draw is NO fun! I didn't like it when they were little and had to take it out of their foot! That made me cringe! Sunflowers are so pretty and I've yet to grow any but love the ones I see! Making cookies and going to see an author friend on Sat as she talks about her latest book. Glad you had a "date" with your husband! It's good to do that! Happy weekend!

  7. Are blood draws on babies a normal routine thing at a year old!? Tell me now because I need the next 10 months to prepare.

  10. I hate having my blood taken too (I don't think I'm squeamish but I do have a tendency to faint so maybe I am?) so I definitely would have ugly cried too! Sorry you both had to go through that but hope the recovery was swift. The sunflower pictures are lovely!

  11. Would love to see a sunflower field and go apple pcking again!! I don't mind having my blood taken, but I really can't handle someone else's blood. HA. How did the races go?

  13. Those sunflowers are so beautiful, and how much fun that y'all went apple picking! I wish that we could do that in Texas! It's always so much fun to have family in town, but it's hard to get back into the swing of things after they leave.
