*As you all know I will be going to Vegas in March. Partly for a dear friends wedding but mostly it's a chance to see my family and to meet the newest addition to my sister Lisa's family:
Isn't he soooo cute!?!? They will get him tomorrow and his name is Zero (french bulldog), in homage to my sister's favorite The Nightmare Before Christmas. I can't wait to see him and Emma play together. She hasn't been around a puppy in a very long time.
*When we moved to El Paso we noticed that right around the corner (literally 1.5 miles from the house) there were building a Planet Fitness. We decided that once it opens we will be getting a membership. Driving to post a few days a week will cost more in gas than the $10/month membership plus Planet Fitness is open 24 hours. We can walk or run there anytime of the day, can't wait!!
*I have my dermatology appointment today. I'm really hoping they can do something to help with my eczema, it is driving me absolutely crazy.
*Kyle and I both seem to be feeling somewhat better. I have some sinus pressure still and Kyle is a little congested but I think we caught it quickly and managed to keep it from getting worse. I'm bummed we didn't make it to the zoo yesterday, hopefully this weekend it will happen.
*I made the most delicious brownies yesterday (yes I am very proud of them haha).
I normally would wait to post this on my food blog (which I will still do) but here is the recipe:
2 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup all purpose flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup all purpose flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350°F degrees. Butter or spray (with non-stick spray) an 8 inch square pan.
In a large bowl, melt the chocolate and butter together in the microwave or over a pan of hot water.
Stir in the remaining ingredients, mixing thoroughly.
Transfer batter to baking pan and smooth over the top.
Bake 30 minutes or until the top has a dull sheen.
Cool for 5 minutes, then cut into bars. Roll in confectioners sugar, if desired.

They are amazing, Kyle has been eating them heated up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy your day!!!
Zero is so cute! What a sweet face! Yay for Planet Fitness! I'm hoping by the time I'm in recovery they will have opened one near me. :) Can't wait to try that recipe! Thanks for sharing and glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could bake... nothing ever turns out but I always blame it on the oven.
ReplyDeleteLove frenchies so much... they're adorable!
Yay for feeling better! I want a planet fitness!
ReplyDeleteYou tease with those brownies...boo!
Your mention of Planet Fitness being a lot closer by is getting me to walk the short distance to my school gym this morning. So thank you. I'll need motivation so please mention more gym things.
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome! :) Glad I could give you a little motivation. :) Hope your time at the gym was good.
DeleteZero is so sweet! I love frenchies!!!! Good for you and planet fitness. Our gym used to be right around the corner but Hurricane Sandy destroyed the building. I wish we had a $10 a month gym here!!! Good luck with the dermatologist. I suffer from psoriasis that is often prompted by stress. Ugh!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the name Zero! And we have a planet fitness right by my house too. Of course, I'm not going there because I"m lazy and would rather just eat your brownies. ;)
ReplyDeleteLook at that face!!! His ears are so cute!!

Zero is sooo cute! We almost used that name for Casey since we got him on Halloween, but decided Casey suited him better. Those brownies look AMAZING, good luck with your derm appointment, skin issues are the worst!
ReplyDeleteMmmm ... brownies. Yesterday must have been a baking day. Reagan and I made cookies. We had to have a birthday party for her little monkey Mocha ~ oh yes, you head that right!
ReplyDeleteLove the name for the dog and really, $10 for a membership! LUCKY YOU! I pay $94 for our family!

ReplyDeleteHe's such a cutie! And Zero is a perfect name for him. I found your blog while researching what to wear for a military ball (ugh.. not excited..) My husband is stationed at Ft. Bliss, too. Good luck with the eczema.. the dryness out here it killing my hands.
ReplyDeleteHi!!! Really you aren't excited?! I'm sure you will have a good time. :) It's nice to meet other spouses here at Bliss. :) You would think being from Vegas that the dryness wouldn't bother me but man it sucks.
DeleteThose brownies wouldn't last more than a day here! So jealous you are so close to an affordable gym.
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait to see the fur baby! How adorable,
ReplyDeleteHeated up with a scoop of ice cream sounds fantabulous to me!! And that little puppy is cute. :)
