Weight Loss Goals

Before we moved from NC I had an awesome routine of going to the gym everyday and using this app:

myfitnesspal

I was diligent about logging my workouts and meals. It worked wonders and I lost 10 pounds! I was so happy and I know that most of the weight I had gained was from fertility drugs and treatments. I finally felt good about myself and was determined to lose another 10 pounds. Well then we moved and spent the next months in limbo; between traveling and seeing family my weight loss suffered. I didn't gain anything back but I wasn't losing.

Last week I decided that I needed to get back to my weight loss effort. I don't like doing diets, I don't have to cut anything out but I do eat in moderation. I eat until I am satisfied not until I am full. I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day and drink a diet soda maybe twice a month. It has done wonders and I feel amazing.

Instead of going back to the gym I have decided to go on long walks instead (believe me Fort Huachuca has some awesome hills and I get a good workout). I get up in the morning, have breakfast and turn this on:

runkeeper

This is another app that I love, I have been trying to walk at least 3 miles per day and so far I have been successful.

I'm not afraid to tell everyone my weight:

When I started this weight loss journey about 6 months ago I was:

146 pounds

I went down to:

136 pounds

After 1 week back on this journey, I weigh:

133.4

Woo hoo!!!

I want to get down to 125 and I know that I can do it!

What do you use to help with working out and weight loss?

  1. Good work! I've used My Fitness Pal in the past and I've loved how easy it is to track every calorie that you put in your mouth. Since I started working in a job that requires 12.5 - 13 hour shifts, I've really lost focus on being healthy. It's hard to runrunrun all day for other people and then... to come home exhausted and to think about working out/running/doing anything other than sleeping is just such a chore. I want to enjoy getting back into shape, not hate myself for it!

Oh, hey, P.S. you're totally getting a GORGEOUS scarf in the mail ;) I finally found the perfect one!

  2. I use and LOVE My Fitness Pal. We do it in spurts so that we have some time off from counting calories. But we're starting back on it Monday for a few weeks before we head to Orlando for vacation!

  3. Sounds like we are in the same boat. I have been trying to run at least 4 times a week, but it is sometimes hard to find the time and the motivation. I need to stick to a plan like yours, hopefully it will work for me! :)

  4. I'm on fitness pal & I'm preparing for my first 5k. I realized that if I'm shelling out $70 for a race I need to actually do it! And succeed! I think it's the money behind it that's pushing me but who cares. Its all for a great cause Even I I don't succeed! But hopefully I will! Haha

  5. Good for you!! I'm not a huge fan of exercising, but I found that I love Zumba! I'm not that great at it,but it gets me moving for an hour a couple times a week! I like walking too so I do that a few times a week.

  6. I LOVE My Fitness Pal. I'm doing a 90 challenge right now, and a lot of us have signed up for it because it's such a useful tool of tracking our intake of food and our workouts.

As you well know, my favorite app right now is Zombies, RUN! It's so fantastic. I really can't say enough about it.

I dont know how well using the app has helped, as I'm not allowed to weigh myself for another 4 days (every two weeks), but even if I haven't lost weight, I FEEL better.

  8. Way to go! I also use My Fitness Pal! I've been jogging and doing Crossfit a few times a week, but was semi-sidelined due to some knee problems. I'm trying my best with the workout portion! I also started the Paleo diet a few weeks ago, and that has helped me lose some weight. Best of luck on the rest of your journey!

  9. That's great progress, congratulations on your hard work paying off! I use both of these apps, I love them! My fitness pal I find harder to keep up with because I get busy during the day and forget to enter snacks and stuff.

  10. Just found your blog! I live in Tucson! Small world! And great work on the weight loss! Keep up the great work! While my hubby is gone for USMC boot, I have been trying to get back into shape too! And I completely agree, the increased water intake is so helpful!

  14. Great job! Getting started 'again' is the hardest part! RunKeeper is a great app. If you're in the mood to jog/run try the app C25K. It's great! I used it to help me start running again. And it worked! Like other app's you can run it in the background while you play your favorite music. Enjoy your new scenery!
