Yesterday, Kyle finally received the list of open assignments for his class of the MICCC (Military Intelligence Captains Career Course). We had absolutely no idea what was on this list and I started to panic when I saw that a good portion of the assignments were in: KOREA! We have no desire to go to Korea right now and thankfully we were able to fill the 20 spots on his dream sheet and did not have to include any job in Korea (it is our one do not want to go place).
Our #1 choice is Fort Lewis, Washington. The job would be perfect for Kyle and is exactly what his branch manager wants for him. We also have some really good friends that live here and Kyle went to college there so I know he would love to be back in the area.
Other places on our top 20 are: Fort Carson, Fort Meade, Schofield Barracks, Shaw AFB, Fort Hood, Fort Sam Houston, Fort Bragg (which we know for a fact that we won't be getting orders back there anytime soon), Fort Shafter and Fort Stewart. It is crazy to think that in roughly 3 months we will be packing up our stuff and moving again.
Kyle has his interview with the branch manager next Wednesday and we should have an answer the first week of October. I will be on pins and needles in Vegas waiting to hear from him haha.
I'm sure I can find something to occupy my mind while waiting to find out, like maybe going here:
My sister and I decided today that we want to go to Disneyland while I am visiting. I love Disneyland at Halloween time, it is so fun and the decorations are amazing. We want it to be a sisters trip and I know we will have an amazing time! This will make the 3rd trip to Disneyland for me in the last 3 months (I'm definitely not complaining lol), so I can't wait.
I hope you all are having a great day!!
My high school best friend is an Army wife and she and her family have been in Korea for a few months now. Although her biggest cons are being away from her family and the time difference, she recently blogged about the good things about Korea too.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you don't end up there, but if for some reason you do, I'll send you her blog so you can read up.
Fingers crossed for you! We have friends from Schofeild Barracks who just moved to Fort Lewis and they love it! We are following job assignment possibilities as well, it's difficult to pick where to go but we're like you, saying no to Korea! Good luck and have blast in DisneyLand!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to the Disney parks during Halloween. It is definitely on my list of times to go. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Mac starts the Signal Career Course in Augusta next summer. I'm soooo nervous about where we can go after that.
ReplyDeleteI just said yesterday that I wanted to go to Disneyland around Halloween and again around Christmas! Lucky!
ReplyDeleteGood luck...fingers crossed for you in Northern California!!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize Disneyland did that kind of stuff for Halloween although it makes sense.
How fun would that be?? I haven't been in nearly 25 years and I can't wait to take Reagan for the first time!
If by chance you get sent to Fort Hood, shoot me an email! We live near Austin and it is not that far. I would be happy to get to know you in person! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever been to Disneyland for Halloween although we did used to go to knotts scary farm every year.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to WDW during Halloween this year! And we're doing the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Do they do that at DL or is that just a WDW thing? Anyway, I'm excited, too! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you get an answer soon. That waiting is the worst!
I can't wait until we can put in our list for places! We would love Ft Lewis too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with our Wednesday Walkabout!

I would love to go to Disneyland for Halloween, but convincing DH is another task at hand. I went to Disney's Very Merry Christmas and I loved it, so I can imagine how wonderful Halloween would be in Disney.
ReplyDeleteand (sorry sent it before i finished) g'luck and I hope you guys get your dream duty station.
ReplyDeleteoooo, fort meade..that's close to me! I hope you get somewhere amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're at Stewart and love it! We have everything here! Big(ish) city, hisotry, beaches..! Being close to Savannah is great! I'm so anxious to do our list and then find out what we actually get. Hawaii and Germany are at the top of our list. And if we stay CONUS, we'd also like Lewis or Carson. Hubs is going to want to go where he can take command fastest though and that'll probably be Polk..
ReplyDeleteHey Jen! When he has his interviews ask him to inquire about positions that I have open here in Germany (if he's interested). I manage assignments for EUCOM (for Army officers) and I have a few openings!
