I haven't done an update in a little while and I figured I might as well. This past weekend Kyle's parents were here visiting and we had a great time! We were able to show them around a little bit and we all enjoyed spending time together.
This weekend my Dad will be here visiting. I am excited that he is able to take time off from all the side work he has been doing on the weekends to come see us. We will be taking him to Tombstone and showing him around town. It will be great!!
A few weeks ago I posted that I was going to Vegas on October 3rd, I actually moved my trip up by a week so now I will be heading there on September 24th. It will be nice to have 3 whole weeks with the family instead of just 2! I'm sure Kyle will be playing tons of video games and enjoying some silence without me here haha. I won't see him until October 19th when he drives up to Vegas for his brother's wedding and then we will head home together on the 21st. We are still waiting for his branch manager to come down and interview his class (he hasn't heard anything about when she is coming). She is supposed to be here next but who knows it seems that things keep getting pushed back. Does she not realize that she is giving me severe anxiety! LOL!
Oh and I have a little rant for today. I went get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube (because I refuse to pay the $55 that Toyota wants), I told them what I wanted and the guy was super nice and came in to tell me that he suggested I have my cabin filter replaced (I watched him pull it out of my car, I am the crazy lady that will watch a mechanic and make sure they are doing what they are supposed to and nothing more, I thank my Dad for teaching me that). I looked at him completely confused because before we moved in May we paid over $500 to have the 40K mile maintenance done (at the Toyota dealership in NC) and that should have been done. He brought the filter in and you could tell that it had never been changed. I was LIVID!! It makes me wonder what else didn't get done that was supposed to. The guy felt so bad that he actually gave me a discount on the filter. Of course I contacted the dealership in NC and no one has called me back, shocker!
I'm going to leave you with this picture:
You think she loves him?! :)
I hope you all have a great weekend!!
I LOL'd at Kyle playing video games while you are gone.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that is exactly what Andy does anytime he has the house to himself. Men.
And boo to Toyota's NC dealership. I'd be livid too!
Wow...what a busy time for all of you! That is good though, it will keep you out of trouble. ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your car. I have had that happen on different occassions too, it is not fun at all.
The picture of your husband with the dog is so funny...just like our dog. She is "Daddy's little girl." LOL! :)
Have a lovely weekend.
Have a great weekend with your Dad!
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it, but that filter that he came out and showed you may not have even been the one that was in your car...I feel like they do shady stuff like that to get you to spend more money. I would have your hubby check it out. I know it costs more, but I always bring my car into Honda. I've had bad experiences at places like Jiffy Lube :(
ReplyDeleteOmg! What dealer in NC? I take mine to a Toyota an want to make sure I'm not getting ripped! Omg! That is just awful! So glad he gave you a discount!
ReplyDeleteAnd so glad you get to spend lots of qt with family!
Vegas for 3 weeks?! Awesome!! Glad that you are getting a lot of family time :) I would be so angry with the dealership as well. How frustrating! I always feel like they never do quite what they say. Sorry that happened but nice that they gave you a discount at this place!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to second that. Jiffy Lube will do anything to get you to pay more. And it's more expensive to have them change it. Hopefully that wasn't the case this time though.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with your family!!
I'm also that crazy lady that watches mechanics like a hawk. Except the last time I had my oil changed, and I'm paying for that. They didn't put enough in (we have a HUGE SUV), and because of that, after 1500 miles I was WAY short on oil and it caused serious issues. Needless to say I went into Jiffy Lube (where I had it done) AFTER speaking to my mechanic (whom we totally trust as he's NEVER screwed us over), and getting a printout of what's wrong, and started SCREAMING - in a room FULL of customers - three of whom got up and left, with their cars, prior to having anything done.
ReplyDeleteThey offered me 4 free oil changes - to which i replied 'yeah b/c I'd EVER bring my car back to you guys? I just had to pay over $250 to fix what you guys screwed up, my car will NEVER be in your hands again. EVER.' I wound up getting a check for HALF the $250 mechanics fee and a couple coupons for free oil change about a month and a half later in the mail. I'll never use those coupons, nor will I have my oil changed anywhere but the mechanic we love and trust.
Also - the last time I took the car to Jiffy Lube, they also tried to tell me that I needed an additional $400 worth of flushing and such, despite the fact that I SHOWED THEM that the maintenence had been done at the dealership the DAY we bought the car. They seriously argued with me in the lobby. They finally shut up when I started getting loud :P
/end rant.
I can't stand getting my oil changed. They ALWAYS want to tack on another $100 of things I "need" done. I usually just tell them I change things like the air filter myself...
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm in BFE Alaska though, the cheapest place in town to get an oil change charges $75-80. Ridiculous.
Trust me, my dad taught me to always be a skeptic at places like that too and I'm glad. There's a stereotype about them for a reason.... they try to rip off females all the time!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Have a great weekend as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you'll have more time to spend with your family - that's always a plus!
My husband is a mechanic, he works at an itty-bitty 2 bay shop with just him and the owner and while he doesn't get paid half what he probably should, he stays there because of their reputation of an honest shop. I hate the stigma that mechanics get - but it's good to know that there was someone else out there who helped look out for you!
My husband does all of our vehicle stuff himself. It's one of the things I appreciate most about him, as he hates mechanics lol.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky to be stationed relatively close to family :)
It always bums me out when cars aren't taken care of properly by shops. My parents own a shop in DC (3rd generation of family business!) and mechanics get such a bad rep. I am glad they JL realized the problem and fixed it for you though!
ReplyDeleteAwww, that picture is adorable! Your puppy is too cute.
