Tattoos

I often get funny looks from people when I tell them that I have tattoos. Unless I am wearing a swimsuit or something that shows my back you would have no clue that I have them. I am not one to get a tattoo just because, all 6 of mine have special meaning.

Let's have a little show and tell. LOL!

This was my first tattoo...I had went skydiving with my sister that morning and at the last minute we decided to go get my first tattoo done. I was very involved with my church at the time and I thought this tattoo was very fitting.

My second one I got done after my divorce was final, it was my gift to myself after putting up with a lot  of bad stuff.

This is the chinese symbol for Faith...I had Faith in myself to walk away from a bad situation and not look back

Chinese symbol for Strength. I had the strength to walk away from the bad situation and stand up for what I knew wasn't right.

When my Mom was diagnosed with cancer my sister and I wanted to do something special. The ribbon is the pancreatic cancer ribbon and the monarch butterfly is very special because my sister saw this the morning my Mom was diagnosed. She said she still sees one flying around outside every now and then.

I got this tattoo done when Kyle was deployed. I wanted to do something to honor him and show my never ending support and love.

I am working on ideas for tattoo #7, can't wait to see it finally get done!!

What about you all? Any tattoos?

  1. Wow - I love that all your tattoos have meaning.

I have a shamrock on my lower back (tramp stamp-ish). It was because I am Irish and wanted to rebel in college. But I love it. It's a part of me now. :)

  2. I don't have any but I want one. Just a tiny ladybug the size of a pencil eraser. For my husband to be Army, he doesn't have any either. He doesn't like them and doesn't want me to get one. Even though I've wanted to for a while. I guess if I still want it by the time I'm 25 I'll get it. Haha.

  4. That's beautiful! I have several, including a large back piece taking up most if my upper left shoulder blade. But, like you, if I'm in a t shirt and jeans, you would never know! My parents have Harley's and stuff, so tattoos have been a part of my life as long as I can remember! Love!

  5. I love how your tattoos all have meaning to them. Usually when I ask people what their tattoo(s) mean, they just tell they got it because they thought it was cool or trendy.

I have one tattoo. It's on my lower back and it's a HUGE dragon with the kanji symbol for fire inside its looped tail. I got it because I was born in the year of the Dragon and since my husband was deployed, it was up to me to raise our 3 month old on my own. So, I needed all the strength I could get!

  7. I love the flowers on your back! Meaning for tattoos is a good thing. Only a couple of mine mean anything. I have four tattoos. An anchor on my stomach, a religious tattoo on my lower back, peacock feathers on my upper back, and a tribal/flower/water thing on my lower right leg. I like that all my tattoos can be easily covered. Most people don't think I have tattoos either!

  8. I love that they all have meaning for you! I have my husband's name in Hebrew on my right wrist and he has our wedding vows in Hebrew on his right forearm...it's only four words in Hebrew but it translates to "Nevertheless, I'm always with you." It came from the Bible and the rest of the verse says you hold me by my right arm (thus the placement of our tattoos). Our son's name also plays off of it but I don't post his name publicly.

  9. Christopher has a bunch of tattoos and all of his mean something too. I wouldn't get a tattoo, but I like when the person has put some thought and effort into it. I like the butterfly you got for your mom; that's really sweet!

  16. People are always surprised to find out I have four tattoos because you can't really see them. They are for me and me alone and each one has meaning. I'd like two more but that probably won't happen.
