4 Months

As I was talking to Kyle's brigade commander (and soon to be boss at Polk) after his relinquishment of command ceremony, he made this comment to me, "See you in 4 months!" I am not joking you as soon as he said that a huge panic came over me. I am not sure how we are going to do it but we will haha. We have started a checklist of things to get done and so far it is helping.

*Sell couch (we have needed a new one for a while and this is the perfect chance). SOLD!!! A good friend of mine moving back to Bliss is buying it.

*Find a place to live in Louisiana. I am going to try and fly out there in September to meet with a rental agent and start looking at places off post.

*Go through the garage and throw out/sell things we don't need. Done! It feels so good to have that done.

*Find a new vet for Emma and Fishy. I am extremely picky especially because of Emma's epilepsy.

*Cancel gym membership, I kid you not we have not been there in a few months haha. I run daily and do not need it anymore.

*Find a cleaning company to deep clean the house. I know this sounds trivial but I know it needs to happen.

*Sell the house! Haha this is a no brainer, it officially goes on the market today, so fingers crossed.

Happy a great day!!

Long Weekend

We have had a great holiday weekend! It started out Thursday night with us running the Electric 5k in Las Cruces. It was so cool, we ran right before the electric light parade and it was packed with people.

Friday morning we got up bright and early to the run a 4th of July 5k. It was incredibly hilly but so fun. I even got to meet a fellow blogger friend, Amy. :)

Friday evening we went to Pop Goes the Fort on post and had a fantastic time! The 1st Armored Division band played as well as the El Paso Symphony (which at one point the commanding general conducted lol). The fireworks were spectacular!!! Far better than we both expected.

Saturday and Sunday were spent getting rid of excess stuff that we don't need. Kyle made a trip to a dumpster and we easily got rid of over a thousand pounds of stuff.

Today will be spent relaxing for the most part. I start 3 new classes today so it should be interesting.

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend!

We Run!

This is what our medal holder looked like as of yesterday. My goal for the year was to run at least 20 races. Well by the time we leave El Paso at the end of October we will have completed 21 races. :)

I am excited to see what kind of races there will be in Louisiana.

Here is what we have planned for the rest of the year:

Electric 5k: July 3rd
4th of July 5k: July 4th
Run for a Margarita 5k: July 12th
Spartyka Fallen Heroes 5k: August 3rd
Rio Grande Half Marathon: August 10th
10 Miler in the Heat: August 16th
Rhino Run 8k: August 23rd
Chips and Salsa Half Marathon: September 14th
Transmountain Challenge Half Marathon: October 14th
Flying Horse Half Marathon: October 25th.

Two of these races are in Albuquerque so it will be awesome to see different scenery.

I will finally be getting new running shoes this weekend, my current ones have done great over the last year but it's time.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Academic Goals

Most of you know that I have been going to school since last September. I am chugging along and taking 4-5 classes at a time. I had a goal to be finished with my Bachelor's by the end of the next year. However, if I stick to what I am doing now I will be finished by May 2015!

I was unsure of what I wanted to do after but I decided that since I will have over a year left on the GI Bill, I am going to pursue my Master's in Psychology. My ultimate goal is to get a job with DoD working at a child development center or in a school.

I honestly never thought I would be considering a Master's, but now that I am in school I am loving every second of it. I am glad that I made the decision to wait and go to school. I feel like I take it more seriously than I would have right after high school. I am excited to see what the future holds.

Happy Wednesday!

Tasty Treats

Sunday the baking bug bit me, big time haha. I made Kyle nutrigrain bars for the week and then decided to make some 4th of July cupcakes for his work.

I had so much fun and am so happy with how the final product turned out. It was time consuming but well worth it. Kyle said everyone loved them and now I'm sad that I didn't keep any at home, my sweet tooth wants one haha.

Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream (let me know if you want the recipe for both I will email it to you, I have it saved as a word document haha).

Have you baked anything lately?

A Quick Getaway

Kyle and I had a great time on our little getaway this weekend. We got up to Inn of the Mountain Gods early Friday afternoon and fell in love with our view of the lake. After dropping our stuff off we headed into Ruidoso to walk around and take in the scenery. We found an amazing barbecue place and enjoyed an early dinner. Afterwards we found a miniature golf course and had to play. I won lol.

After we got back to the hotel we walked around the property, had a drink at the bar and enjoyed dessert on the balcony. :)

Sunday morning we got up bright and early to go horseback riding. It was absolutely amazing!!! It was just us and our guide on the ride and the views were stunning. I already want to go back and do it again.

We came home a day early and attended a get together at Kyle's battalion commanders place, it was nice to have the whole battalion together. We had a great time.

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and prepping for a busy week.

I hope you all had a great weekend!!
