I changed my mind

At the beginning of the week I received my Polar Watch heart rate monitor in the mail. I was so excited to use it and was really impressed with how easy it was to set up. This is the one I got:

The transmitter strap you wear to track your heart rate was really comfortable and I didn't even notice I was wearing it. Overall I was really impressed until I started to notice the little things that bothered me. For one it didn't track distance, now that I am more into running this is a huge issue. I really didn't think it would bother me so much. You also can't upload your information online to keep track and the biggest downfall is that you can't charge it. If the battery goes dead you have to send it back to have the battery replaced and that could cost upwards of $25 + shipping.

I soon realized that this watch was just not for me. I got a great price on it through Amazon and thankfully I am able to return it. After talking with Kyle and a few fellow bloggers I decided on this one instead:

Garmin Forerunner 10. It has everything that I want, it tracks heart rate, calories, and distance. I also can upload everything online and it's rechargeable.

So all in all, the Polar Watch is not a bad product, it just wasn't for me.

Happy Sunday!

  1. Don't you hate when you purchase something and it's a let down? This happened to me recently with a pair of shoes.

  3. That bugs me about it too but I do have my Nike Running app on my phone that I use when I go running ~ that and it has my music and a really comfy armband so I still like my Polar.

    Great review of it!

  4. I just use an app on my phone... never thought about a watching being able to do all those things! LOL.

  7. Woew! Great review. I am with you. I would much rather have something that tracks my distance and that you can recharge. It's really weird you can't recharge the polar watch. It's really inconvenient. I also like the look of the Garmin a little better.

  8. I do have both Polar (well, a couple of them) and Garmin 310XT. Especially with the triathlon training I do like Garmin better, especially for its capabilities in water. And now when I got my bike cadence stuff for Garmin as well, I have hardly any use for my Polars.
Besides, Garmin connect is awesome! :)

    Happy runs, girl!

  9. I'm glad you were able to return the one that wasn't compatible with your needs to get one that was more suited towards what you'd like from your watch.

  11. I like my Polar, but I use the NIke+ app on my iPhone when I go running to track my distance. it doesn't bother me because i need music when i run. there are other polars that will do the mile, but those are the pricer ones. i was bummed that i couldn't upload the info online. in the booklet it tells you you can, but when you go do it nothing. you can't even sync up the watch to the iphone.
sorry you didn't like the watch :(

  15. Glad you got one you love. I have the pink Polar one, but I wasn't using it for running. I used it for Turbo Fire only to track my heart rate and recovery time. It's perfect for that :) For running, I don't worry about my HR as much and just use the MapMyRun app on my iPhone to track distance and pace :) I love that app. :)

I need to get off my butt and run, but the wind today is horrible.

  18. I have a Polar and I love it but I also have the fitbit so that tracks my distance for me. I like the way the Garmin looks! I'll have to remember that one when my Polar needs an upgrade.
