Yesterday afternoon I was getting ready to prep dinner when Kyle called. Now he normally will text me throughout the day but only calls if it's an emergency. He proceeded to tell me that his car was acting up and he was taking it to the dealership. We've never had any issues with it but it's giving me slight anxiety thinking about possibly having to get a new car for him, since both of our cars are paid off. Hopefully if it is fixable it won't cost an arm and a leg...just an arm would be ok. ;)
I had to take him back to work after we dropped his car off so it gave me a chance to meet with the Battalion FRSA (family readiness support assistant). I was able to get my paperwork in order to become the battalion treasurer as well as the company frg leader when the time comes. She is such a sweet lady and really helpful. I know that things are going to be great, everyone is so incredibly nice. I have a great rapport with the battalion commander as well as the command sergeant major, I can tell that they are interested and involved. It will make my life easier in the long run.
We still have a tentative date of May 29th for Kyle to take command, I can't wait until we get 100% confirmation so I can really start planning and setting things up. We have ideas for food and I know what I'm doing for the cake. I know Kyle is anxious and we will start change of command inventories next week so it will be a lot of late nights. I foresee watching a lot of Netflix haha.
Oh and I'm super excited because my herbs are starting to grow:
Yay! Here's hoping they stay alive, lol.
Happy Wednesday and I hope you all have a great day!!
Yay! Here's hoping they stay alive, lol.
Happy Wednesday and I hope you all have a great day!!
Where did you find this kit? Its so cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting time for you guys! Glad to hear that the FRSA is still around to help. It seems like their jobs are the first to get cut in a crisis, and it just puts so much more work and confusion on the volunteers! Inventory is the calm before the storm. Though, depending on who he replaces it can go either way. Good luck, because it is stressful! Ha ha
ReplyDeleteSucks that his car is having issues. Must be in the air, because Amos' Jeep is being weird too. Boo!
Hope the car is okay. I also freak out when Mac calls me during the day. My first reaction is what's wrong?
ReplyDeleteOh how cool are you herbs!! I have always wanted to grow some of my own, especially basil but didn't want to plant a garden. Did you just get 5 small planters, place seed in them and let them grow in that larger bin?? I think you have me interested in doing this now!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHope his car isn't too pricey to fix! And your little herbs are cute!
ReplyDeleteAh he's taking command, that's awesome. Congratulations!! XO
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous! Not a huge fan of our current FRSA. She's super nice, but never wants to do her job. I'm glad you got a good one!
ReplyDeleteHope the car issues get resolved!
I know what you mean about anxiety. And having both our cars paid for is best I hope neither of us have to have a car payment ever again! I will say an extra prayer for y'all and hopefully it wont be anything major with his car.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried herbs, but really want to sometime!
ReplyDeleteI have the same reaction anytime my husband calls! We text all day long, but we never call each other, so when the phone rings I know something is wrong! I hope the car problem is an easy, inexpensive fix. And your herb garden looks great! Mine never survive!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes, I go into panic mode when he calls. Thankfully the car was an easy fix, phew. :) Thanks, I really hope the herbs continue to grow haha.
DeleteSo exciting for you both!
ReplyDeleteI love reading about all the military talk/jargon that you guys deal with. It seems so different for me since I've never experienced it. Definitely interesting though!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you've gotten an early start on the planning, that will probably make things less stressful when you get your for-sure date.
ReplyDeleteHigh five on the herbs, they're looking good.
How cool and exciting! Love when the little sproutlets peek up ... so cute!

ReplyDeleteSo happy to see that the seeds are growing well for you. I'm going to miss my herb garden when I move later this year.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I'm so happy people are investing in the FRG and helping you :) And, your herbs look nice and healthy so I'm sure they'll survive! I can't wait to see y'alls garden.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It makes me so happy to have people that care about the FRG and want to make it successful. :)
DeleteI too freak about when my husband calls during the day! He never calls and I get so nervous when he does!

:) Thanks!!! The car is fine thank goodness, it was a pretty easy fix.
DeleteGlad everything is okay with Kyle's car! I get so much anxiety from car problems. I'm so happy to hear that things with the battalion are going well and you have a good relationship with everyone. Yay for your herbs! That's so exciting! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the car, Jen. I think commented before about what a non-green thumb I have. I am living through you and your herb garden! :)
ReplyDeleteHaha Rachel! :) Well I hope I can continue to keep them alive.
DeleteI'm glad you got to meet someone from your FRG who's going to be a support for you. And yay for the plants still being alive :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Stephanie! Let's hope I can keep them alive haha.
DeleteBoo for the car, yay for the herbs! (I'm jealous)
ReplyDeleteHope the repairs don't cost too much! That is never fun.
ReplyDeleteYou're growing herbs and I am growing little algae and ferns in small terrariums! I guess the spring green thumb is going around! I hope your plants grow and grow! :)

I hate it when my husband calls during the day. I automatically assume something terrible has happened. Then he'll say "pick up milk" or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI need a new car do bad but the thought of spending that money makes me cringe. I keep thinking of the shoes I could buy.
ReplyDeleteHopefully some good netflix nights will soothe nerves too. Yay for those tiny greens coming to life!! ;-)
