Ever since we signed the contract for the house I have been eyeing new pieces of furniture. For the last few months I have been itching for a new dining room table and a hutch. Our table isn't horrible but it only seats 4 and that bugs me.
This is what I am hoping to get (well something similar):
I love how simple it is and the color is perfect (it's almost black).
Since we will be back to having 4 bedrooms we have the master, spare bedroom, office and a room for all Kyle's gear. Plenty of room for family and friends to visit.
In the office we want to have a futon, I found an awesome one at Walmart:
The 4th bedroom (where all his gear will be stored) will be used as Kyle's music room. He loves to play guitar (he has 2) and I want him to have a place that he can go play and just tune everything out. I have some ideas for what I want to do and here are some pieces I want for the room:
How cool are these?? I can't wait to get started on this room. It will be my project and gift to Kyle. I also have some DIY projects in mind that I want to do. Eeekk time needs to move faster!
I think the biggest thing I am excited about is the backyard. The landscaping isn't done so we get to design and have it how we want it. I think we are going to do mostly rock landscape but with an inlay of grass for Emma. Something very low maintenance that we can water ourselves.
I love that Kyle is letting me design and decorate how I want to. Of course it won't be too girly, you will still know a guy lives there haha. I am even more excited that El Paso has a Hobby Lobby and Kirklands, I will be spending lots of time at these stores. I will also be purchasing stuff online from Target (thanks to the RED Debit Card, 5% off and free shipping lol).
Since we are only a month and a half away from moving I will spend my time purging stuff in the house. I'm sure we have stuff that we don't need or use, now is the time to get rid of it. There is no sense in moving stuff we don't use.
It feels like we just moved...oh wait we did! Happy Moving! :)
Hope you all are having a great Monday!

Ohhhh. House decorating! So much fun. Pinterest will be your best friend. Haha.
ReplyDeleteHah! We have a gear room too! So funny!
ReplyDeleteI love picking out stuff for the house! My husband and I invested in a LoveSac couch before Japan and we LOVE it. I adore all their stuff, you should check it out if you guys are in the market for living/family room furniture. We also FINALLY got a "real" table here--as in not from IKEA--from the Exchange furniture store actually! Sometimes they run good sales there, something to keep in mind. :)
ReplyDeleteI want a dining table similar to the one you showed. Mine only seats 2, and we had to buy folding chairs so we could seat 4 so I feel your pain. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it! Now I want to go shopping ;)
ReplyDeleteSo much fun to shop!!!!! I love the color of the dining set. It looks expresso, which is my favorite wood stain! :)
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of drawbacks to moving, like how much of a hassle it is, but there are lots of fun things, too. I love being able to go through my stuff and get rid of a bunch of it every couple of years. I'm not a packrat, and I hate clutter.
ReplyDeleteAND, I love decorating! It's expensive, yes, but totally worth it. I just wish we were in a position to buy so I could actually keep all of my hard work. One day, when we're not moving constantly, or when the market improves enough that we could sell when we got new orders, we will. But for now I'll settle for renting.
Im so ready to decorate a new house (#armywifeproblems, am I right??). I love all your ideas!
ReplyDeleteYeah for a hobby lobby! Love the dining room stuff! I have a target visa I'm thinking I probably get free shipping which I totally forgot about!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!! I can't wait to see how it all turns out once you get settled in. :) I'm excited to one day have my own place to decorate too. Whenever I'm with Jason at Target I always point things out for what I'd want in my future home...whenever that may be, haha.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh this is soooe exciting! We are also in the market for a dining room set and I love the one you picked! Decorating is the fun part of moving!!
ReplyDeleteYayyy for moving and NEW furniture!! Exciting! :) And those guitar hooks are so awesome. Perfect for a music room.

I love decorating! So fun! Kirklands is one of my favorite stores in Texas... great stuff for a great price!
ReplyDeleteI love that hutch with the glass windows! I'm still looking for one for our house!
ReplyDeleteMy dining set is similar to the one you show. I love it! It contrasts beautifully with my red dinnerware.
ReplyDeleteI love espresso furniture! That's how most of our common area stuff is.. I can't wait to see how everything turns out! The rock scape sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI love that hutch! I'm always looking at different cabinet options for our dining room since we have very little kitchen storage in our current apartment. I'm so excited to live vicariously through you as you decorate this new home, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThat hutch is beautiful! I hope you're able to get everything you want!
