Thoughts on Thursday

How is it already Thursday!? I swear the weeks are just flying by lately!

Here are some of my thoughts running through my head.
*One of things that has me the most excited about moving back to NC is being close to my family again. It will only be a 10 hour drive which is FAR better than the 15 hours it is now. I miss not seeing them regularly and it will be so great to have them come up to visit us with ease (we won't be living on post this time!).

*Thanks to so many amazing friends (some who follow this blog) and family I have successfully reached my fundraising goal for Team Homes for our Troops for the Chicago Marathon! While I may have reached my goal the fundraising doesn't have to stop, I want to continue to support and raise money for this organization. You all have been amazing! Speaking of this event, I booked my hotel and my airfare! It's really happening!

*I took both Emma and Fishy to the vet this week and $250 later they are up to date on everything. Let me say that taking pets and a toddler to the vet together is interesting haha. It's hard to decipher which one is whining the most.

*I am OVER this Kansas weather. It honestly does not know what it wants to do. We had beautiful and sunny 60 degree weather over the weekend followed by horrendous winds and cold temperatures again. Get your act together, I want to enjoy it here for the next 2 1/2 months. Don't ruin it.

*We have a lot of fun things planned over the next few weeks. We are trying to take advantage of the time we do have before the chaos of moving really kicks in. There is a lego exhibit called Art of the Brick at Union Station that I've been wanting to check out, hoping to check that off this weekend since it's only here for a limited time.

*Lastly, I've been thinking a lot about my Mom lately. This is a constant occurrence but this month marks 7 years since she passed away. It's hard to believe that it has been that long, some days it feels like yesterday. We are working on coming up with something to do on that day to honor her. We have a few ideas but I hope we can make it a special day and share with E how awesome her grandma was.

Wishing you all a great Thursday!

  2. I can’t even imagine taking the girls with us to the vet! They’re enough of a handful on their own! And I think that’s great that y’all are going to do something special in honor of your mother. I’m sure that E will love listening to your stories about her grandmother!

  3. Have y'all ever released butterflies in honor of your mom? I bet that's something that E would love! I'm also so over this weather! 60s earlier this week and snow again last night!

  4. I am not looking forward to my next visit to the vet since Ginger is getting older. Congrats on meeting your fundraising goal! I know you are gonna rock that race! The sadness of missing a loved one never goes away, I am so happy you are going to do something special to commemorate her.

  5. You are going to have such great weather once you get back to NC! So jealous! Can't wait to see gorgeous pictures tho! So I've heard dogs are basically like 2 year old children. So, you basically handled THREE toddlers on your own. Woof! hhehe

  6. 10 hours is still more than what I could tolerate. Apparently it's a 7.2 hr drive to DC from my city but we're flying.

    1. Nothing at all wrong with flying! It's just easier to drive for us with a baby and dog haha.

  11. Wish you all the best with your move. My mom passed away almost two years ago. It's still a very hard, emotional journey for me. Your weather is a lot like our weather in IL and I'm over it too!

  12. I had to laugh about your vet visit. Kids...2 legged and 4 legged! Our weather is weird as well. Chilly and windy on Thurs. This weekend 60s!😲 hard to figure out how to dress for the day. Glad you met your goal of fundraising. Good group to help vets. Megan would enjoy the Lego exhibit. Even our grandchildren enjoy them. Enjoy your weekend!

  13. I love the idea of honoring your mother this month and keeping her memory alive for E. I feel like there is so much I never learned about my own grandmother, it will be great for E to have that.

  14. Yes to being close to family but I don't count a 10 hour drive as particularly close! Closer than a 24h flight though :)

Sorry this month has been tough with missing your Mum. For us, we have a curry on my Dad's birthday as that was his favourite food. We try and get together (as much as possible with the whole hemisphere thing anyway) and talk about him and share memories. As you say, I think that's important for his grandchildren who most likely won't remember him as they grow up.

  15. Hugs! Yay for being even a little bit closer to family. I know you all will visit them often. The weather this year has been pretty crazy especially the further north you get. I don't blame you one bit for wanting it to calm down. We aren't having such drastic changed and I'm so over it. Yay for the marathon stuff booked!
