Let me just say that the end of the day on Friday was the best! The training rotation finished and that meant that we actually get to spend more than 5 minutes with Kyle (well until the next rotation starts in 7 days). He was amazing and offered to cook dinner so I could just relax for a bit.
I will never say no to homemade orange chicken and fried brown rice!
Saturday he had to go into work for a few hours for some end of rotation meetings which was no big deal because he ended up picking up dinner from our favorite local burger place (Shout out to Fat Boy & Skinny's!!) and we settled in to watch The Hateful Eight after E went to bed.
Sunday we were up bright and early to head off to Lake Charles for a 5k that afternoon. Hard to believe that this was our 70th race since we starting doing these back in 2013. It takes about an hour and a half to get there so we had an early lunch and did some shopping before changing and heading to packet pickup. This was a race that was being run prior to the kid's Mardi Gras Parade, we got to run on the actual parade route and it was already lined with thousands of people. It was awesome! We had to be bussed to the start line because of roads being blocked off.
We had the BEST time! We had our music blaring and kids were high fiving runners as we passed and E had a blast. She is so good in her stroller and just hangs out.
I was really proud of this race. I haven't been able to run consistently since injuring my back but Kyle motivated me and pushed me the whole time. I feel like I'm finally getting some of my speed back and ran this 5k in 30 minutes. It felt great!
Afterwards we grabbed our traditional Starbucks post race beverages and made the drive home.
We ended the night watching the Oscars, doing laundry, and playing with E. It was a great weekend!
Hope you all had a great one.
That is so fantastic! I bet you felt great!
