Life In The Smith House

Well here we are, 39w6d pregnant and still no Emersyn haha, this child certainly is stubborn. I have an appointment this morning, so we are hoping for progress. :)

Besides thinking about the arrival of this little peanut here is what is happening in our neck of the woods.

Kyle is crazy busy with this rotation (even when he is home his work blackberry is buzzing like crazy) but he got home early enough on Saturday night that we could order the UFC fight. I am that wife that actually enjoys this type of stuff, Kyle laughed and said that I was going to put myself into labor with how hyped up I get. It was nice to have that extra time with him to just relax and do something fun that didn't involve leaving the house.

I officially registered for the Rock n Roll New Orleans Marathon in February! I am going it solo but Kyle and Emersyn will be my cheering section on the sidelines. I have had some people tell me that I need to slow down and just relax but when you go from running 8-10 weekly to maybe 1-2 it's hard and starting October 3rd it's game on!

I have also been focusing a lot of attention on budgeting lately, when you are adding a new person to the mix it becomes even more important to ensure that you are being smart with money. This is entirely my lane, Kyle trusts me to handle the money and I have been focusing on monthly transfers to savings, principle payments on our car loan, and transfers into a college we set up for the baby. All of these things are so important and something that I take pretty seriously. We have an amount that is our zero, it helps to have that so we don't completely deplete funds. Excel has been my best friend haha.

Emma has been perfecting her sassy face lately haha...this is what she does when she is waiting for Kyle to come up to bed. She will only do this to him, I am chop liver to this pup.

Hope you all have a great day!!! :)

  1. Boo! I was hoping Emersyn would come today so we could be birthday twinsies!! ;) I like watching the fights too, but am more a boxing/muay thai girl...!

  3. I know all about stubborn kids. Both my kids were born at 40w5d and each day overdue made me feel even more cranky. Budgeting is so important with kids, especially when they start eating solid foods. Your grocery bill will increase exponentially.

  4. I've had people tell me similar things since I started real estate classes when she was only 6 weeks old. I'm almost finished now and it feels so good to be doing something for myself. I was all about getting back into running when I was pregnant but after she was born I changed my mind, lol. I lost the baby weight fast & walking & short runs have been enough for me, but I know you love long distances so the marathon will be good!

  6. I keep checking to see if you have not posted because maybe that means she here. But I'm also worried you will not have posted and then we will wait in anxious anticipation for the 'she's here' update!
Also, don't worry about what other people tell you. This is just the beginning of everyone forcing their opinions on you! I personally got right back to running/jogging when the Dr. gave me the all clear and started my Master's program when he was 3 months old. You can do anything, Girl!

  12. So I guess the UFC fight didn't put you into labor! ;) I'm OBSESSED with budgeting. Andy loves that I love budgeting because he doesn't have to worry about it anymore! I think he's checked our bank account like twice since we got married!

  14. Oh I hope she comes soon!! My doctor always said first babies go to term or over. All mine came two weeks early, but he kept preparing me for that. LOL

  15. Hope that sweet baby comes soon mama! Those last few days and weeks are absolutely the hardest Also, I don't think February is an unrealistic goal for running again. You will hopefully feel just fine!

  17. I am ruined from UFC! The one and only fight I watched the guy broke his leg from kicking the other guy. I'm sure you know which fight that was. I'm scarred!! I'm hoping one of these days reading your blog will rub off on me so that I too become a runner! I always try to start the couch to 5k and slack at week 2. But I can walk...really fast :)

  20. Waiting for baby is hard to do! Nights like that are important to have. I love a cozy night at home. I roll my eyes at the people saying slow down. You know your body and you will know when to slow down. Keep up the great work!
