As of today I am 20 days away from my due date! Let that sink in and blow your mind haha.
I've had a lot of things on my mind lately (obviously) but one thing I do think a lot about are the postpartum goals that I have set for myself. I know that I have to wait roughly 6 weeks before I get the go ahead from my doctor to work out but I have to say that I am already looking forward to that moment. I've had people telling me to enjoy this time and just relax but when you go from running on a consistent basis to an inconsistent basis it's hard.
I am the type of person that has to have goals, I have to have something to work towards. I am already signed up for 2 races that I have been looking forward to all year. There may be a few other smaller races sprinkled in between just to get out and move, plus it will be so fun getting Emersyn used to her stroller and running (well riding for her). I know it will take time to get back to where I want to be but I'm excited to start that process.
November 13, 2016: Pensacola Half Marathon. I will be running this with Kyle and my sister! I can't wait.
December 10, 2016: Cajun Country Half Marathon
This will be my 3rd year running the Cajun Country, last year was interesting because I had my fastest half time during this event and I was also 4 weeks pregnant and had no idea! :)
These will be half marathons #14 and #15, I really can't believe we have done so many. I may even throw a full marathon in there the early part of next year.
I am excited to continue on this journey!
Crazy how fast it's gone! I hope your recovery is smooth and you can get out and at least go walking before the six week "grace" period!
ReplyDeleteYou will do great! I think there is plenty of time between having E and running those races - your body will have healed just fine. I ran the Army 10 Miler two months after giving birth and while it certainly wasn't my fastest time ever, I felt great running it (albeit at a slower pace than usual).
ReplyDeleteYou should check out my friend's blog- runnerarmywife.blogspot
ReplyDeleteShe has some great info about running after pregnancy!
Thanks! :)
DeleteI always have some sort of goals as well!
ReplyDeleteAwesome goals to set. I know you will do great! Wow 20 days, so exciting!
ReplyDeleteYou are so close and these goals are so awesome!!! Can't wait for your babe to come :)
ReplyDeleteYour goals are awesome but girl it's ok to take a breath and just enjoy that baby! I'm looking forward to seeing you getting a jogging stroller and running those races with E!!
ReplyDelete:) Thanks! I can't wait to get her into her jogging stroller. :)
DeleteThat is awesome that you're already setting goals for yourself!! Good luck; I'm sure you'll have no problem meeting them.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Britt!!!! :) I am excited.
DeleteI'm exactly like you that I need to have a goal in mind! If I don't have myself signed up for a race, then chances are I won't actually work as hard as I should. Good luck with both of your postpartum races!
ReplyDeleteSo excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll do great and it'll be great to get Emersyn outside :)
ReplyDeleteI know you'll do great!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! :)
DeleteWow!! I'm well impressed...! As much as I love to work out, I have been dragging my feet on running bc of the humidity here - I love running in 50 degree weather! But if you've signed up to do 2 half marathons, then I can get off my ass and go run around the block or something!! You rock, Jen!! I wish I could come and cheer you on when you run your races...!
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend.... I am insanely impressed with your half marathon goals! Get it! That's fabulous. Since you've kept up running so late into your pregnancy, I'm sure you'll bounce back athletically quickly!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with these goals! I hope you are able to dive right back into running... you'll probably be just fine since you were able to keep it up throughout your pregnancy! :)
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Just make sure you allow yourself time to heal too! I failed at that and it took longer to heal since I didn't give myself that time at the beginning.
ReplyDeleteI like to have goals too. It feels more organized, and I'm all about being organized. :)
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting! It's good to have goals and something to look forward too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Winter! :) I feel goals are always a good thing to have.
DeleteI think fitness goals postpartum a great thing to have! Only you know what works for you and your body. I say these are fabulous goals!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I am really excited. :)
DeleteThat's awesome! I think having goals after having your sweet Emersyn is a great things! I'm sure it will be a great help getting back into running and being active again.
