Running For A Cause

There are 2 races that I am participating in next month that have very special meaning to me.

On September 12, I will be participating in Run for the Roses 5k. This particular race benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation which is an organization that is close to my heart. Two of my cousins have CF and one of them passed in 2013 at the age of 26. I am so proud to run in honor of my cousin Brad for this race.

On September 26th, I will be participating in the Running for a Cure 5k in honor of my beautiful Mom, Kathy. This race benefits the American Cancer Society and any chance I can to raise awareness for cancer in general I will. There is also a Relay for Life event on October 23rd that I will likely be participating in. To honor and remember my amazing Mom is so important to me and my family.

I went through a company called Races 2 Remember for these mantra bands, I will be wearing them for my races and I can't wait. I have another mantra band that should be arriving soon that is honoring my Uncle Phil who passed away from cancer in 1999.

It's going to be a good September!

  13. Pure awesomeness. I have a cousin with CF and I'm a CF carrier which means my kids have a 50% chance of being a carrier too. Andy doesn't carry the gene so we knew our kids would get it, but it's still such a scary disease.

  18. My best friend's sister has CF. It is such a scary disease.

I used Races2Remember to make a bib honoring my mom for my first half marathon. I love their company! (Plus they are from my hometown.)

  19. This is so amazing, Jen! I've done a lot with the American Cancer Society, especially with Relay for Life (my sisters and I participate every year to support a few family members and friends that have/had cancer). They're a great organization and I hope to work for them once I'm done with school. You're so amazing and inspirational! :)
