There are 2 races that I am participating in next month that have very special meaning to me.
On September 12, I will be participating in Run for the Roses 5k. This particular race benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation which is an organization that is close to my heart. Two of my cousins have CF and one of them passed in 2013 at the age of 26. I am so proud to run in honor of my cousin Brad for this race.
On September 26th, I will be participating in the Running for a Cure 5k in honor of my beautiful Mom, Kathy. This race benefits the American Cancer Society and any chance I can to raise awareness for cancer in general I will. There is also a Relay for Life event on October 23rd that I will likely be participating in. To honor and remember my amazing Mom is so important to me and my family.
I went through a company called Races 2 Remember for these mantra bands, I will be wearing them for my races and I can't wait. I have another mantra band that should be arriving soon that is honoring my Uncle Phil who passed away from cancer in 1999.
It's going to be a good September!
Oh yay! So inspiring Jen! You're a badass person. :)
ReplyDeleteSo are you! :)
DeleteWay to go, Jen! That's fantastic that you're doing these! I love Relay for Life events!
ReplyDeleteYou know the first one is dear to me as well (since my niece has CF). Those bands are just great!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of these bands - I would love to get some for my half in February. Running for a cause always makes it so much more special.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful reasons to run! <3
ReplyDeleteVery nice!
ReplyDelete:) thank you!
DeleteThat's nice that you're doing it for a cause close to your heart. I'm sorry you lost someone near and dear to you though. :(
ReplyDeleteYou're such an inspiration! XO
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited to support these races.
DeleteAww... this is so beautiful! You are amazing. <3
ReplyDelete:) I appreciate that so much. It's so important to me to support causes like this.
DeleteThis is awesome!! You are absolutely amazing! Go YOU!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing way to honor them. You rock!!
ReplyDeleteSo great that you are able to run races in honor of special family members!! I bet those are the best races to run!
ReplyDeletePure awesomeness. I have a cousin with CF and I'm a CF carrier which means my kids have a 50% chance of being a carrier too. Andy doesn't carry the gene so we knew our kids would get it, but it's still such a scary disease.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome, what an amazing race and cause!! That is really cool that you are participating in these races that are so close to home for you :) Go girl!!

Great causes! My husband's cousin has CF so I understand how hard it is. :( But good for you!
ReplyDeleteI love the one for your mom.
How awesome you're participating in those meaningful races. Wished there were more of those in my area!
ReplyDeleteMy best friend's sister has CF. It is such a scary disease.
ReplyDeleteI used Races2Remember to make a bib honoring my mom for my first half marathon. I love their company! (Plus they are from my hometown.)
This is so amazing, Jen! I've done a lot with the American Cancer Society, especially with Relay for Life (my sisters and I participate every year to support a few family members and friends that have/had cancer). They're a great organization and I hope to work for them once I'm done with school. You're so amazing and inspirational! :)
