Time For Me!

Sunday marked the end of my first two classes with AMU. I never thought I would be 28 years old and finally going back to school to finish my degree. I am surprised at how naturally I have fallen back into the routine of it. I start 3 classes next week and if all goes well I should have my degree finished in 36 months, yay!

As much as I'm loving it I'm also exhausted. I not only have the responsibility of school but a company FRG to run, a Battalion FRG to keep organized and a household to take care of. I'm sure some of you are thinking "Well Jen the FRG is voluntary and you can quit at any time." That may be true but to leave these families with no one isn't an option.

I decided that it was time to designate a day just for me. One day a week to stay in my pj's, watch tv and pamper myself. Today will be that day...in will consist of lots of tea, manicure/pedicure and a much needed bubble bath.

I know that I need it and I will feel so much better because of it.

What do you do to relax and renew yourself?

  1. That sounds perfect!!! Take a mental health day. I usually do that on Saturdays when my husband is at work. It's so healthy to take care of yourself and put yourself first once in a while.

  4. That's so great that you're taking the day for you. Enjoy it! Whenever I have time for myself I like to work on a project I've been wanting to do. Or if I don't have a project at the moment, I read and it usually turns into a nap lol!

  6. Having a day to yourself sounds like SUCH a great idea. My 'me' time is daily during Henry's nap. The days that he skips napping or doesn't nap until late feels never-ending sometimes. Typically I just sit down with my lunch and browse the internet or watch something on the tube. It's so refreshing to not have to worry about what he's doing for an hour and just focusing on chilling out!

  7. I think this is an awesome idea! When I want a day to relax, I actually clean my house (weird, I know, but it makes me feel so much more relaxed with a clean house) and just watch tv.

  8. I like to take a day for myself where I just sit and watch TV in my pjs and drink coffee/tea. Best refocus time I can have.

  12. Your school terms are really short. I'm like 60% through this semester. And slowly losing my will to keep up with my assignments.

  13. Good for you! I just finished reading this book about stress management for women and how we can't take care of business unless we take care of ourselves first. Very important :)

  15. Nice! I enjoy girlie ME days like that, too. I keep going back and forth on going back to school--my husband is in law school part time (and we both work full time) and since his school will cost WAY more than mine, right now he wins...haha. I am glad you can take a day to yourself. Enjoy!

  21. That sounds awesome! I really need to take some time to do something like this for myself. While Jarrod was deployed while we were in Virginia, I would leave the kids at a sitters house two days a week. One day I would spend running errands, cleaning house, etc. But the other day was always a "me" day. It was great. I should start the tradition again!
