I was going through my pictures last night and I came across this one:
One year ago today our belongings were being packed up at Fort Bragg and heading off to Arizona. I was incredibly sad to leave because that was my life for 4 years. I knew every square inch of that post and we were leaving all of our very dear friends (most of my core group of friends pcs'd at the same time). We had no idea where the Army would take us after the CCC (captain's career course), I was excited but also scared.
I never in a million years thought we would end up in Texas but I am so glad we are here. So many people gave us negative opinions but we ignored them and LOVE our life here in El Paso/Fort Bliss. There are so many people who choose to look at the negatives in life, we aren't those people. Out of everywhere we have lived so far this feels the most like home.
It is crazy how drastically things can change in a year! :) There is never a dull moment and we wouldn't have it any other way.
Happy Friday.
Has it really been a year... doesn't seem its been that long?!
ReplyDeleteThat will be us in exactly a month! Farewell El Paso, hello CCC, I am glad we got to meet here though! Hopefully we will end up as happy as you guys are after CCC!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we met too! :) I'm sure you will be happy wherever you go. :)
DeleteHappy Friday!!!! 3 day weekend here I come, just have to get today over with.
ReplyDeleteHappy one-year moving anniversary. :) I'm glad you found a place you like to call home!
ReplyDeleteI was the same as you - we heard only negative negative negative about Fort Bliss, but we've realized that we really like it here! Maybe this isn't where I'd pick to live if I could live anywhere, but compared to other military installations, compared to what we were told, it's great! I'm glad y'all have enjoyed your time here so far!
ReplyDeleteIt really is great!! I'm so glad we made the choice to come here (we originally had orders to Hawaii but got pulled over). :)
Deletelove this! how crazy to think back to a year ago for you. things happen how they are supposed to! XOXO happy weekeend!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much can change in just a years time! So happy for you to be loving Fory Bliss! Happy Memorial Weekend :)
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy how many things can change in a year - I always have that realization at the end of every year - time sometimes goes by way too fast!
ReplyDeleteIt's always crazy to me the way things change in even a year's time! Fellow Army wife here. ;) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have always lived by the creed, "Grow where you are planted." Everyday there is a new opportunity and new friendships to be made. Although moving is difficult, it can be an adventure. An optimistic person always looks ahead and sees the best in every situation. Glad you have settled in and made a new "home" and friends. ( I am Kym's mom from redwhiteandmarinewife. I love your blog!)
ReplyDelete:) You are sooo sweet!!! Thank you for stopping by my blog.
DeleteAnd you do this all with your love. You are a hero and a great support. Love you! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteI miss GA so much!! CCC isn't exactly what I was expecting or how everyone told me it would be. Hopefully hopefully then next few months are better. I seriously can't wait to find out where we go from here.
ReplyDeleteIts so crazy how quickly/much life can change in a year!
ReplyDeleteI love that you see the positives in things. So happy you feel at home there. :)
ReplyDeleteCrazy it has already been that long! Wow!

It is so odd how life can take us so many places that are truly wonderful, but we would never expect it until we see the end results! God truly has wonderful plans for all of us.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial day weekend, dear Jen! :) xoxox
It really is! :) Have an amazing weekend sweet friend!
DeleteIt's always amazing how fast time passes. Can't believe that it's been three years since we moved back to Germany, sometimes it feel like yesterday..
ReplyDeleteWow, time flies! It feels like it was yesterday you were writing about it! :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying your new home. It's hard to change, been there done that. You lose touch with people over the years that were your good friends on base. Know that feeling as well. You always need to be open to what the next place brings for you and create some happiness as well in your own little corner of the world! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIm glad you decided to move to Texas. People will always have different opinions. All the places that we get sent to, theres a billion people that love it, then theres me. Lol. Im just hard to please. Haha
ReplyDeleteJen, you are just full of so much grace! I love how you are so honest about your fears of change, but how you embrace the new and the now. It is very lovely!
ReplyDelete:) You are so sweet, Rachel! I really appreciate this. Hugs sweet friend!
DeleteSO much can change in a year. Last year, I was spending our anniversary alone...watching t.v....while Scott was deployed. Now we're in a different state, together!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you love Texas! (Scott is putting it on the "do not send us there" list :(
It does go by so fast! Glad you are still loving the move to Texas
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about how this unpredictable lifestyle takes people exactly where they're meant to be. :) So glad you guys are loving TX!
ReplyDeleteWe're leaving in a few weeks after three years at Bragg. We'll be in the two moves in one year club by this time next year!
