It's Home

I am so happy that I finally have a doctor that listens to me! My appointment yesterday was amazing. I walked out of there with a referral to a dermatologist (for my eczema) and new infertility doctor. I just have to wait for the referral office to call me to set up appointments. We are moving in the right direction.  I can tell that the level of care here at Bliss definitely exceeds what I got at Bragg. It's a great feeling! Maybe this really will be our year.

El Paso/Fort Bliss is really feeling like home. I mentioned to Kyle tonight that I feel more settled and at home in the month we have been here than I did the entire 4 years we were in NC. We are desert rats at heart and we love the weather, area and the people. My brother-in-law did tell us that some of the nicest people live in Texas (he is partial because he is from Houston) and he was certainly correct.  This Friday night we will officially be hailed (welcomed) by the unit and I will get to meet more of Kyle's coworkers and his bosses. I'm definitely looking forward to the next 3-4 years here. Even if it all goes downhill we at least know where we will be going after we leave. Haha!

Today will be Day 1 of my running, I tried to run yesterday but by the time I got home from all my errands it was so windy and dusty I didn't want to leave the house. Pray for me lol...pray that I don't pass out along the way. If I survive I might even treat myself to a much needed manicure/pedicure. :)

Hope you all have a great day! I'm going to go snuggle with this little guy before he wakes up and tries to claw me haha:

So sweet when he is sleeping.

  4. I'm glad you like Texas. We had a friend move there and when he was looking for real estate, he'd send us pics/prices of houses and we were amazed at the beautiful homes avail at such fantastic prices!! That was before the market dropped, but man, the homes were pretty. :) Glad the people around you are nice.

The kitty does look cute sleeping. :)

  6. I enjoyed Benning in many ways, but I kid you not, as soon as I walked out of the airport and out into the El Paso sun, I thought, "I'm home." We love it here. I'm glad you are loving it, too. :)

Yay for having a good doctor experience! Hope it continues to go as smoothly as possible for you!

  7. Good for you in getting the referrals. Have to say that I am a bit jealous at the ease in which you got them this time around. When I was at West Point it was easy, here at JBLM it is nigh impossible. I've been asking for referrals for Pulmonary and Dermatology every year. One would think that with me having Asthma I'd get to see someone at Pulmonary but with the recent budget cuts it is a big No Go. When I first got here and we didn't have all those budget cuts it was so much easier to get appointments. Even the soldiers here aren't getting the level of care that they need. So glad that Bliss is much better. Can't wait to move away from this place in a few months.

  10. I have eczema, too - and it gets 100% out of hand when I'm stressed out. But honestly, I found that the Neutrogena cream works better than anything my doctor prescribed.

So glad you're hitting your stride!

  11. Hope your doctors work out! And I've heard from everyone who has been at Bragg that the quality of care at every other base or post is so much better. Not that surprising, haha.

  13. I'm glad your appointment went well!!! I hope it's your year too! And if you went running today I am impressed, I only left the house to take out the trash and it was a minute too long to be outside for me.
