When Kyle and I got married we did not have a lot of furniture between the two of us. I basically left an entire furnished house in Las Vegas and he was a young LT living with a card table and futon haha. So of course we bought some furniture together that has lasted us for quite some time. When we moved to Louisiana we bought a new dining room table as well as a new sectional.
Now it's time to replace other large items in our house, which I'm not going to lie has me quite excited. I know that I will be utilizing my sister's help from afar because she is great with this type of stuff. But here are some items that I have been looking at lately.
*Entertainment Center. Our current one is pretty sad, it is bowing in the middle and it is almost 9 years old. It's time to go. I am eyeing this one from Wayfair. We have to have one that will support the 70in TV that occupies our living room haha.
*End Tables. The ones we have we got in El Paso for dirt cheap and to be honest, I hate them. I want the end tables that match the entertainment center so Wayfair wins again.
*New desk. The desk that I currently have has been with us since our first house at Bragg (circa 2008). If I am really going to consider going to school for my Doctorate I would love to have a desk that can be utilized for that. I absolutely love this desk, the L shape is perfect and it would be functional for what I need it for. Wayfair
*Bathroom decor. I'm not going to lie our bathroom decor is pretty sad. I usually throw our shower curtains/rugs away before every move and just pick up new inexpensive things to get us through. I don't want to have to do that with every single move. I love the idea of gray/blue together so this shower curtain is a winner to me. Wayfair
*Lastly, our bedroom linens. More often than not I want to throw them out and start over every few months but that does nothing for our bank account haha. We typically stick with quilt sets because Kyle is a human furnace and will increase the temperature by at least 20 degrees at night haha. We also have to be careful with what we choose because of our furry children and their little claws. This set is calling my name! Wayfair
Until we move and are officially settled in our new home I will continue to dream about these new items making their way into our house haha.
What are you wanting to upgrade in your home?
I bought our entertainment center from Wayfair. It's more of a media stand. It doesn't have any open pockets. It's antique blue and I love it! I also bought our bed frame there and more recently with their sale bought a standing hammock! I love Wayfair!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!!
A standing hammock sounds like the best investment ever haha! :)
DeleteYes! I basically hate everything in my house except for my dining room table and our master bedroom. But everything else can go! I am holding out though, until all my kids are out of the hand wiping on my couch phase.
ReplyDeleteI won't lie I love furniture shopping! Corner desks are my jam too!
ReplyDeleteWell we had to purchase all new furniture again before we moved here because a guy who moved us from our house to my moms destroyed ours. Super fun!! Not. As far as decor from there, Home Goods has been my go to!! They have awesome shower curtains and bathroom decor. When you move to Kansas, hit one up!! The prices rock too. You'll get addicted fast. They have adorable kid furniture and decor.
ReplyDeleteUgh that is so frustrating!!!!! I love Home Goods! We had one in El Paso and I loved shopping there.
DeleteI love that desk! We just got a new office desk (from Office Max...or Office Depot?) and it's L-shaped! We were able to mount our TV's- I'm still getting used to looking up when watching, but it's nice having the extra space. Can't wait to see your new place!! Why did you leave your stuff in Vegas? Just curious. We got lucky and were able to put all of my stuff in Tyler's storage unit back home, so when the army went to move him to Bliss, all of my stuff was in there, lol.
ReplyDeleteI like all of your choices!
ReplyDeleteAnd I get new shower curtains with each move too...we're had glass shower doors in some of our bathrooms so it's not worth worrying about until it's necessary!
I love getting new furniture because it really does give you the opportunity to recreate a room or space if you want to. I actually think that I have those exact same end tables (or ones that are similar), and I think that you're going to love them! Wayfair really does have some awesome pieces!
ReplyDeleteI never shop at wayfair, I always forget about it when I am looking thanks for the reminder! It is so nice to upgrade. i just not a new comforter set much like that one you have for the same reasons, my hot in many ways boyfriend and loves to burrow dog ;)
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to sleep on a futon for years. They are very practical
ReplyDeleteOh I agree! We have one in our daughters room for guests and it has worked great.
DeleteLove the entertainment center and desk! I'm not a fan of our desk and I would love a new one but we have a deal to not buy any more furniture till he gets out of the army :(
ReplyDeletegreat finds! Love the entertainment center and end tables.
ReplyDeleteHopefully they are still available when it comes time to buy. :)
DeleteI love our couch which I got at a sketchy store in Tacoma, WA. Shady business for the win! I also love our dining room table which was a craigslist find. Our bedframe was a wayfair purchase and I'd have to say that's my favorite in the entire house. Aside from that, I can't wait to have "real" adult furniture one day!! haha
ReplyDeleteHaha this is awesome! We bought our couch from a small furniture store here in LA and I love it!
DeleteI have been snooping on Wayfair lately too! We need a new entertainment center and end tables. Ours has drawers that broke in the move and we've been too lazy and indecisive to replace them. We just got new bedding and went with a quilt vs comforter this time and so far, it's been amazing.
ReplyDeleteLIVING ROOM FURNITURE! I love how cozy our living room is, but in our next home I'd really love to sell everything in it and start over with matching furniture, including end tables, an entertainment center, etc.
ReplyDeleteLol my husband is also a human furnace, so I definitely don't need a heavy comforter set! I love all the things you've found!
ReplyDeleteI love new furniture! It's one of the good parts of moving around, you get to replace old things with fun new things :) I love that desk!
ReplyDeleteI like everything here!
ReplyDeleteThe human furnace comment made me chuckle. Michael is the same way! And we need to uograde a lot of furniture but we are saving up for a car first, so it'll just have to wait.
ReplyDeleteI honestly love most of our furniture. We were gifted most of it from friends and family and it's perfect for our needs right now! Oh wait, there's the dining room table. I don't care for it-- the chairs are worn and don't match the table, and it just looks ugly. But it will do until we can save up to buy a new one! Our couch is one we got for free from a neighbor, and it's broken but so dang comfy!!! We're planning to take it with us when we move haha!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently in the process of couch shopping and also need another set of sheets. Why are sheets sooo damn expensive?? And couches too, for that matter. Well, especially in Singapore. Times like this, I miss the US!!
ReplyDeleteThat entertainment center is exactly what I am looking for. Our plan is to mount our tv at some point, and I need an entertainment center like that to hide everything. I desperately need new sheets and a quilt. The dogs have destroyed mine. You will need the human furnace in Kansas! Those winter nights can be brutal. :)
