Let's Paint!

With Valentine's Day coming, tips for gifts and celebrating are all over the place. Kyle and I haven't purchased gifts for each other since our 1st year of marriage. We typically don't make a big deal out of the day but we wanted to do something fun as more of a date night rather than celebrating Valentine's Day.

I found a Wine and Paint event happening this Friday and I figured why not! I have done one of these events before but we have never done one together. I was sold when included in the cost was dinner, you can't beat baked ziti, salad, bread, and dessert.

Neither one of us have an artistic bone in our body but it will be fun to tackle these paintings. :) It gives us something to look forward to and hopefully this week goes by fast haha.

We don't get a lot of date nights because of his field schedule so it will be nice to have this quality time together to just have fun and enjoy each others company. He goes right back into the field the following Monday for another rotation. We keep reminding ourselves that he only has 2 more rotations of being in the field. :)

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day?

Happy Monday!

  3. That looks like so much fun! I should look to see if we have anything like that in Virginia for couples! That would be a really fun date night!

  4. This came out amazing!! I've thought of doing a regular paint night with Mike, but I thought it would be weird to have two of the exact same art in our home lol! This is an awesome alternative!

  5. So cute!!! It's nice to have date nights right? We really value when we go out of town together. Because sometimes I feel like I'm home alone more than I am with him. Haha....thank goodness I'm an independent soul!

  6. I've always wanted to go to a paint night! Andy and I will be spending Valentine's weekend at Knox, which reminds me that I should look up Groupon deals for Louisville for this weekend!

  9. We don't do gifts either, mostly because there are so many other days to celebrate our love and marriage, but I love that you'll be doing this! We did a paint and sip type of thing last fall and loved it!

  11. We are extremely dull and don't celebrate v-day either. However I'm thinking of reviving it this year with a card and *small* gift, just because. I'm impressed at your painting ambition, I have no artistic bones either - I'm looking forward to seeing how your picture turns out!

  12. So fun! I want to do another of the painting classes, but I am such a perfectionist that I end up getting upset when mine doesn't look like the instructor's! ha! We don't do much for Valentine's Day... we'll probably cook a better-than-normal dinner together.

  13. enjoy your paint nite together. Phil and I did one together the day after his birthday in Dec. It was another part of his birthday and he enjoyed it. We each painted half of the scene...winter. They are now hanging in our living room. I don't paint much either but it was easy and had fun and got really into it. Am going to a wine and canvas with a co=worker in a couple weeks as she wanted to do one but none of her friends wanted to go. We celebrate valentines day a bit and my birthday the same day. I give a bit of candy and cards.

  16. Just found your blog from Candace's and thought I would say hi. :) I love the idea of going to a class like this together (especially since dinner is included!). People think that since I'm a photographer and my husband is an accountant that I would be the more artistically talented one. That is definitely not the case, ha! He is super creative and would rock something like this while I struggle with my stick figures. ;) Anyway, sounds like a fun idea! We may have to try it! :)
