This weekend didn't go quite as planned but it was still fun.
Saturday morning we were up bright and early for the 4 Miler on the 4th down in Lake Charles. It was ran along the river again and it was beautiful but oh so humid. Kyle's shirt is actually light gray but you can't tell because he was drenched after the race. I was too but thankfully you couldn't tell. ;) It was such a fun race and can't wait to participate next year.

That evening as we headed off to the Freedom Fest on post where Lonestar and Trace Adkins were performing it started down pouring! Well instead of waiting it out to see if the event went on we headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant, invited some friends to join us and then went back to our house afterwards to play board games.
Have fun on vacation!
ReplyDeleteI rained here, too. Stephen and I opted to skip the traditional fireworks shows, and instead we drove over the border to New Mexico and shot off are own. there were so many people and so many fireworks that it was just as good (and probably lasted longer) than the regular shows that ended up getting cancelled anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like y'all were able to make the best of it and enjoy yourself. Have a great vacation!
looks like you had fun, what a bummer for the rain! I hope you have a wonderful vacation!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation and all the QT with your hubby!

ReplyDeleteThat's crazy that they scheduled such big bands to play on post! Fort Riley didn't even do a Freedom Fest this year. Have fun on your little vacation!

ReplyDeleteThey always have the best performances on the 4th of July there! The rain is a huge bummer! We loved that mexican place a lot. Their take out is well worth it. Happy belated 4th to you all.
ReplyDeleteMan! We only had the Silver Wings Army Band for our Freedom Fest. They are great and all, but you guys got the big names. That's awesome!
