Saturday night we headed off to Lake Charles for the Ainsley's Angels Sunset 5k. The great thing about races in Lake Charles is that most are run along the same course. Being able to run along the river is always nice regardless of how hot it is.
If you have never heard of Ainsley's Angels definitely go check out their website they are an amazing organization. It was started by a military family for their daughter who has a terminal illness.

It was incredibly hot out even at 7:30 when the race started but it was worth it to participate in such a great cause. We kept our paces slow and steady and just enjoyed the company.
The finish line festivities were pretty awesome! We were treated to frozen yogurt, jambalaya, gumbo, and any other delicious food you could think of. However all I could think of was Starbucks and black iced tea lol.
We will definitely participate in this one next year.
That sounds awesome especially the food!
ReplyDeleteIt was so fun! :)
DeleteWay to go, lady! That finish line sounds amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! And I am so shocked that you don't have another race scheduled for so long, haha! I bet you find one or two to run in there! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a delightful finish line :) Love keeping up with your races!!
ReplyDeleterunning in the heat always makes it harder, glad the route went along the river - hopefully there was a nice breeze! the finish line treats sound pretty decent too!
ReplyDeleteThe finish line sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for this humidity to go away. The weather is killing my pace lately.
Go you!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine running in such heat.
Sounds like a great race for a great cause, Jen!
ReplyDeleteThe best races are the ones that serve a good cause. My company has a soccer / volleyball tournament each year against one of the banks we work with, and a few years ago, they started to use the funds that used to go towards gifts for the participants to make donations towards a good cause. It's even more fun to participate now :-)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty amazing! :)
DeleteSounds like a great race! way to go!!!

ReplyDeleteA good cause to run. I just popped over to read about Ainsley. What a story and hope it all continues to help other children in need! Glad you both had a good run and goodies sounded delicious at the end! Have a great week!
