Small Victories

Saturday we had our 5th race of the year and it was a great one! It was a 5k sponsored by AUSA, we are so happy to support this organization because of all the support they give the military and their families.

It was a gorgeous morning, I think it was 68 degrees when it started and it was a loop through downtown Leesville. Once I hit the first mile I knew I was faster than normal and as I rounded the corner near the finish I realized that I was finally going to reach of goal of running a 5k in under 30 minutes...it was 29:47.6 to be exact haha. To some people that would still seem slow but I have never been a fast runner and these are victories for me.

It was a well put together run and I can't wait to participate next year.

We have races the next 2 weekends and I'm even considering running a half marathon at the end of the month called Hell's Hills. Sounds a little intimidating doesn't it?! Haha.

We ended Saturday by hanging out with our friends that stopped to see us mid-PCS. It has been 3 years since we have seen them and it was awesome, plus we got to meet their son! It was fun to grill and play board games all night, just like old times!!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

PS: Stayed tuned for an announcement on Wednesday regarding an awesome Military Spouse Appreciation Day link-up that Amanda at Somewhere Over the Camo and I are hosting on Friday, May 8th!!

  1. Congrats to you on the time! And I'm here to tell you that you're a genius! We always buy the big bags of cuties and they always spoil before we get to the end. I've put them in the 'fridge (after reading that here on your blog) and they're not only delicious, they're fresh...and I say that with only two left in the bag, woot!

  4. You always make me feel so guilty over here with your amazing times and races. Like I'm eating Taco Bell and you're running around the world lol. Even when I was 29 I wasn't that active. My idea of a workout was lifting a glass. Laying off the jack in the box for a few weeks was a diet. Lmao.

  6. Great job on your race this weekend! Hell's Hills does sound like an intimidating race but I'm sure you can do it. Running my first 10K this upcoming weekend, definitely nervous. Hopefully someday I can consider doing a half marathon.

  16. Congrats on your sub-30! I wouldn't consider that a small victory at all. Every runner is different with different goal. This was a great accomplishment for you!
