Any time someone sees my tattoos they always ask me the meaning behind them.
This was my first tattoo...I had went skydiving with my sister that morning and at the last minute we decided to go get my first tattoo done. I was very involved with my church at the time and I thought this tattoo was very fitting.

My second one I got done after my divorce was final, it was my gift to myself after putting up with a lot of bad stuff. It was a new beginning for me and this tattoo represented that for me.
This is the chinese symbol for Faith...I had Faith in myself to walk away from a bad situation and not look back
Chinese symbol for Strength. I had the strength to walk away from the bad situation and stand up for what I knew wasn't right.
When
my Mom was diagnosed with cancer my sister and I wanted to do something
special. The ribbon is the pancreatic cancer ribbon and the monarch
butterfly is very special because my sister saw this the morning my Mom
was diagnosed. She said she still sees one flying around outside every
now and then.
I got this tattoo done when Kyle was deployed. I wanted to do something to honor him and show my never ending support and love.
In 2014 Kyle and I ran our first full marathon, we knew that we wanted to get something to commemorate the event. We both ended up getting tattoos and it is an awesome reminder of what we accomplished.
Going through the miscarriages and infertility journey I knew that I wanted a tattoo of some sort to honor those sweet babies that we have lost. I came up with this tattoo design and I love it. It is the pregnancy and infant loss ribbon with 5 small hearts representing the babies that we have lost.
All of these tattoos are incredibly special to me and I have never been one to get a tattoo on a whim. They will be with me for the rest of my life and I want them to mean something.
Do you have any tattoos with meaning? If not, do you want to get one?
I love that all your tattoos have a story behind them! I never realized how many you have. I've wanted tattoos for years, but I'm too indecisive. One day...
ReplyDeleteAw, I love all of your tattoos. That's awesome. I didn't know you had so many, but that's really cool. I just have one big one on my left foot - it's an eagle for my dad, and it's purple all around it, which was his favorite color. I've had it for almost nine years, and I love it! My husband definitely does NOT like tattoos, though... he doesn't have any, and I haven't gotten any more because I know he's not a fan. I definitely want some more, though, haha.
ReplyDeleteLove them!!! All of mine have a meaning of sorts. Still need to find time to get one of them modified. I have a lily on my ankle now, and want to add a violet and the molecular structure of the Calvin Cycle :-)
ReplyDeleteI have none but I REALLY REALLY REALLY want one. I would do a TINY one and with pink and blue ink. Something on my wrist that I could cover with a watch/bracelet for my two kiddos!
ReplyDeleteIf I had followed through with all of my tattoo ideas, I would have at least four or five. I'm just not overly motivated to willingly put needles all over me, haha.
ReplyDeleteLove all your tattoos!! And I love that there's a meaning behind all of them. I also am a huge fan of husband-honoring tattoos...Isaiah doesn't have any, but I got our wedding date tattooed on my wrist along with a tree branch...our main decoration at our wedding was birch branches. :) I have a couple others too but I've definitely been itching for more for a while. No (good) tattoo artists in Sitka though...has to wait til I travel (or move!)
ReplyDeleteInteresting tattoos! They all have a special meaning to you. I see quite interesting tattoos on customers where I work at the hardware store. I don't intend to have a tattoo of any kind though. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I get the same thing when people see mine. Most of mine are covered for the most part, and people get very surprised to see when the appear. haha
ReplyDeleteThose are all so great. I can't ever think of anything meaningful enough to get as a tattoo, even though my husband wants to get one with me. Maybe one day!
ReplyDeleteI had no clue that you had that many! They are great tattoos, and I love the meaning behind them. I have two (one I kind of regret). I hope to get another to honor my mom even though she hated tattoos.
ReplyDeleteI love that you posted this! I always wonder what the meaning behind people's tattoos are! I have one and it's sorority related. I really want to get one for the girls.
ReplyDeleteAh love them! I too didn't know you have so many. I've got 3. My first one is on my right foot. It's a infinity symbol with the word family. I need to get it fixed because it is awful. Lol. My 2nd one is love always on my left wrist. It's in my grandmother's handwriting. My 3rd one is on my left foot. It is an elephant. 2 of my high school best friends have the same one. My next one will be on my back and it's going to be graces heartbeat going into her name. And each kid will have a similar one.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any tattoos because I haven't been able to decide on something that I want on for the rest of my life.
ReplyDeletesorry no it the dog would stop bumping the computer I could finish my comment... lol I love that each of your tattoos have special meanings to you.
ReplyDeleteLove them all! I have tattoos and they all have meaning like yours! I shared about them way back when. I should dig up that post and update it since I've gotten more sine I first posted about them!
ReplyDeleteLove your tattoos!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing the stories behind people's tattoos. It's not something that's ever drawn me, but hearing about other people's history is fascinating.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! Thanks for sharing the stories behind them.
ReplyDeleteLove them! Ive always wanted to get one, but still haven't gotten the courage to get one.
ReplyDeleteThe fertility tattoo is amazing. I don't have any. I had one removed at quite a price (and it was small!) that I did myself in school with a needle and Indian Ink (ha! I still remember seeing my mom's face when she discovered that one, oy!!). :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's so awesome that all of your tattoos have a special meaning to you.
ReplyDeleteI plan on getting my first next month! My husband has a Virgo and Gemini sign intertwined on his arm. It was my design and he got it while we were dating...long distance...lol he knew I was the one tho!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading this and learning about your tattoos. My tattoo is much less meaningful. It was a poor college decision. Ha!
ReplyDeleteWow! I didn't realize you had so many. I love how they are all so meaningful to you! I have two. One is an anchor and my sorority symbol and a group of us decided if we had a successful recruitment one year we would all get one, plus my so sourly means a lot to me. I also have a heart on my hip, not sure why, but I still like it. I want to get one with my kids' names in it but haven't found a design I love yet
