There is one thing in my 29 years of life that I have never had....food poisoning. I can't say that anymore. Tuesday morning I woke up feeling awful, the worst upset stomach and my head was spinning. I could barely walk downstairs let alone have the lights on, it was brutal. Kyle came home for lunch and did his best to take care of me but nothing was helping. I was burning up and wanted to keep my head under the blanket all day.
Wednesday rolled around and it was same feeling, I had no idea what was wrong and even took a pregnancy test to see if that was reason. Nope no such luck. Then I get a text from my friend Jenn who I had met up with at Starbucks on Monday. She asked if I had the hot chocolate because she had felt crappy Monday night....the answer was YES! Process of elimination means it was a form of food poisoning, my best guess is that the milk they used was bad.
All of the yuck is out of my system thankfully and I feel back to normal.
Thanks Starbucks (while this does not deter me from getting my unsweetened black tea), I will no longer be getting getting hot chocolate. It was the worst I have ever felt in my life. I'm so happy to be feeling better, I didn't want to miss out on running the Turkey Trot 5k this weekend.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Oh no!!! I'm surprised that it came from a place like Starbucks! So glad you're feeling better though!
ReplyDeleteI had this once and it was all head-related and I think it was sun poisoning and I was probably severely dehydrated. I also thought I might have been pregnant! The other time I knew it was food poisoning on the cruise ship and that was the worst thing ever. I mean, I would have welcomed death at that point. Last spring, I had it for a couple of days and I'm sure it was food poisoning but I don't know what it was from.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're going to be ready to run this weekend!
ReplyDeleteEek! I'm sorry to hear that!! I had food poisoning THREE times from bad seafood. Once from Italian food, once from Chinese, and another from sushi. Sushi was by far the worst because I couldn't eat it for another year afterwards!! Happy to hear you are feeling better :)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I'm glad you're feeling better! I hope your race goes well this weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's the worst! I'm sorry!
ReplyDeleteI hate to point this out, but food poisoning can take up to 8 weeks cause symptoms (though if your friend got sick, it was probably the hot chocolate). But it's great that you're feeling better! I got majorly sick the last time I drank beer, so that's a no-go for me.
ReplyDeleteUgh! That's awful! Glad to hear you are feeling better...maybe I will have my coffee at home today ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man, that's horrible. Glad you are feeling better for your race this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI've had legit food poisoning once, I was only violently ill for a day but it took a week to recover. SO awful. :( Glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteUgh. Glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHope are better now. I had food poisoning years ago and it was NO fun. I thought I was going to die. But I had a less case than my family since I thought the corn tasted weird so I didn't eat any more. Sigh. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteOh no that is terrible!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awful, I am so glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Food poisoning is awful. I'm so glad you are on the up and up now.
ReplyDeleteHow horrible! So glad it passed quickly. I never had issues with that Starbucks, but I also only ever got Chi. I did get food poisoning from Wagon Master... a few times, be leery of the salad.
ReplyDeleteOff topic... Sorta. After the Turkey Trot, you should totally refuel at the l'auberge casino! Their buffet is costly ($25 a person, which seems like a lot for a buffet in lake Charles) but it is so, so good! we used to take trips to L.C just to eat there.... haha. Have fun, Enjoy!
oh no! I'm glad you are feeling better…have fun at the turkey trot!!!
ReplyDeleteGoodness, that is awful. So glad that you are feeling better now, though. And heck yea - that would turn me off the hot chocolate, too, lol!
ReplyDeleteWow! I've luckily never had it either, so I can't imagine. But I am glad you are feeling better and hope you guys have fun at the Turkey Trot!
ReplyDeleteOnce you get sick like that from something, it's hard to ever want/like it again. Glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling much better! I thankfully am as well. NO hot chocolate from them anymore! Thats what I was thinking that the milk was bad. Only thing I could think of that would have caused it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteI am so, so glad you're doing better again! Hubby had food poisoning from eating pizza at the food court on post once, and yes, it was no fun, poor guy. Especially because he had to play a gig at a general's dinner while barely being able to stand upright and having to go puke in between the pieces. Take care of yourself!
ReplyDeleteFood poisoning is the worst!!!! I'm so sorry you felt so bad. I had it the day of my bachelorette party and it was so bad I fainted the day after and spent the entire day in the ER! It really is the worst I have ever felt! Glad you are on the mend.
ReplyDeleteI hope you told them. You should get a free tea or gift card for going through that. At the very least, they need to make sure that location is more attentive to their product expirations. I just recently had my first food poisoning, but mine was minor. I only felt bad for a few hours, thankfully.
