*If I hear one more person say that they are sorry we are going to Polk, I'm going to punch them! If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.
*Daily I search and look at houses in LA...finding a good house seems promising. We will see how it goes when I visit at the end of September.

*The Army thought it would be funny to give Kyle his ranger school spot back after wait listing him...umm yeah can't go now.
*I finally got my running mojo back! For the last few months I have been slacking but now I am back and better than ever.
*I am ready for our mini-trip to Albuquerque this weekend even though it means running 13.1 miles haha.
*I bought tickets to Oktoberfest on post....yay for German food and beer!
*Michael's wants to charge me $125 to frame my flowers, program and napkin from Kyle's COC...yeah I'll do it myself.
*I am starting to panic a little that we are moving in a few months...time to kick operation PCS into high gear and prep things.
*I start 2 new classes yesterday...back to five. I often wonder if I am a glutton for punishment. My head wants to explode on a daily basis. :)
I keep waiting for my running mojo to come back. So far, no luck. :( I think Polk could be fun, I love Louisiana food. :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, slow down - you're making me dizzy!! I'm sure everything will slow down and fall into place before you know it. And frame the stuff yourself - you're so crafty that you'll have no problem at all!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea where Polk is, but I'm sure it will be fabulous :)!
ReplyDeleteHooray for running mojo, that's always awesome when it comes back.
Good luck with everything PCS-wise!
I just paid Jo-Ann Fabrics $250 to frame an army thing. It was destroyed during our move from Alaska (our fault) and I really wanted it back in one piece. I'm not clever or crafty enough to do it myself.
ReplyDeletePCS panic is the WORST. At least you're getting ahead on the house-hunting game!
Keep you head held high and breathe! You've got this girl!! :)
ReplyDeleteI have zero running mojo, I literally have to force myself on days when I run. Good for you for feeling motivated! :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone hates our base and to be honest I did too...and then one day it was like, "oh I actually love our base for multiple reasons". I am 100% sure there are better places to live, but I love it here. I'm sure no matter how good or bad Polk is you will learn to find things you love as well. Military life, huh?
ReplyDeleteI've heard great things about Albuquerque! I hope you have a great time.
PCS season is definitely here, everyone is moving! Good luck on your move.
ReplyDeleteSunflowers & Love
I know it's crazy!!! :) Thank you!
DeleteEvery duty station is what you make of it. Although Polk isn't high on some people's list, doesn't mean you won't enjoy it. You two seem to embrace whatever life throws at you so I am sure you will enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteTHP is at Ft Polk right now for pre-deployment training. I'll have to ask him how he liked it!
ReplyDeleteThe thing about Polk made me laugh. I've gotten the same about Benning, which is funny, because we've already lived there so it's not like I don't know what I'm getting myself into. Best of luck on your move!!
ReplyDeleteYikes - your first few thoughts weren't so happy. But I"m glad you got your running mojo back. YAY!
ReplyDeleteIf past posts are any indication, you'll do better than Michael's could anyway (nothing bad against Michael's, I just am thinking you'll do great).
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry you're going to Fort Polk. That place sucks, hahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteYou all are busy!! I can't believe that Michael's wants to charge you that much.. that's insane. Good luck this weekend!
ReplyDeletePrepping always helps me not freak out when a big change happens. I usually still freak out but I know you're going to kick PCS butt! So happy you got your running mojo back! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are PCS'ing in a few months too, and I am stressing!
ReplyDeleteYay for getting back into running. I need to really start up again as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's how it always goes with those schools and it's so frustrating to hear that they wait listed him and then turned right around. I don't care what people say about a post. I'm going to have a good time regardless of the location or it's reputation. What's funny, is someone recently said they heard horrible things about Fort Rucker, and it is one of the best in the whole country. We don't need those negative nancys!
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled on to you blog (love it) and found that you are moving to Polk!! We just left there after being there for a little over 6 years.
ReplyDeleteYou will hear a lot of terrible stuff about Polk, a lot of it is true and a lot of it…ehh. Most of its true, haha.
Polk is all about what you make of it. We hated the post, but loved the location... 4 hours to NOLA, 3 to Houston!) We also made the closest and most amazing friends there. I think the small town atmosphere creates a stronger bond among those there.
Anyway, some of the housing is great, some is not... Fight for the good housing, its worth it. OR if you are looking to buy, look closer to Derrider, its much nicer. There is an area between Leesville and Derrider that has lovely houses. Also, Go to Lake Charles often, its much better than Alexandria. Many wasted and disappointing trips to figure that one out. Also, Highly recommend Natchitoches for Christmas !
Good Luck with the move, be excited, don’t let nay-sayer get you down. You will have culture shock when you first get there, but it will turn out to be great if you stay positive and be creative! Cant wait to see how the move goes and how you like post… I actually kind of miss it.
