Birthday Thoughts

The one good thing about Kyle not reading my blog is that I can talk about things such as his birthday, without him ever finding out.

Since his birthday is a few days after I get back from Arizona I want to do something to surprise him. His birthday is on Cinco de Mayo which is a pretty fun birthday if you ask me.

I have coordinated with his 1SG and XO for them to get me into his office the day before his birthday. Thankfully it's a Sunday and I go grocery shopping so he would never question me leaving the house. I already have some decorations bought, here is what I have so far:

We already have a sombrero so I'm sure that will get worn at some point during his day lol:

I'm going to bring in a cake for his birthday, he has no idea about that either. I had the idea to throw him a party at the house but he quickly said no haha. He isn't a huge fan of birthdays but I still wanted to do something special.

The one thing I am stumped on is a gift. I am thinking possibly a day of golf or golf lessons. Fingers crossed that I can pull off this surprise without him finding out.

Have you ever tried to surprise your significant other?

  3. I'm pretty sure divorce papers would land at my feet if I ever did this to Scott lol. We had 2 friends over for dinner on his birthday and that was even iffy.
    Good luck!

  4. I haven't ever tried to surprise Derek, but I bet I could totally pull it off! I'm good at that type of stuff and he's not really the suspicious type. Maybe I will for his 35th bday in a couple of years!

  6. It seems like I always surprise my husband - I don't know if he's truly clueless or if he's just a good actor. :) And he'd KILL me if I tried to decorate his office for him. But I think what you're doing is sweet! A day of golf would be heavenly for him.

  7. I threw Tom a surprise going away party right before basic. He thought we were having a St. Patrick's day party the next day so I was able to have him help with all the clean up and prep beforehand. I also invited all of our friends and family from out of town, so it turned out to be a huge deal! It is the only surprise party I have successfully planned. Good luck!

  16. That's really fun!! I'd planned of having flowers delivered to Richard's work at some point, just to surprise him (and maybe embarrass him a little) :-) Decided to bake cake instead..

  17. How fun! My birthday this year landed on "taco tuesday" while we were vacationing in California. Taco Tuesdays are a big deal there so it was so fun to celebrate on that day!

  20. fun idea! Sneaky wife! Good fun for him though. I know he'll appreciate it! My husband doesn't like birthdays a lot but I make sure it happens since it's a week prior to Christmas. He gets a pie and a gift of some kind. I always seem to figure out what it is eventually. I told him that he'd feel sad if nobody remembered his day, he's special to me and I will always remember it. So there! Tee Hee. Have a good weekend and have a good trip to AZ. We are looking forward to my son and family spending Easter Sunday afternoon with us. Got a roast to cook up.!!!! :0}
