We are officially unpacked! Woo! I hate living in boxes so we always try to get unpacked quickly. I'm not going to lie for a few days I felt like the damn things were multiplying. It felt like 1 would get unpacked and 3 more would appear (don't remind me that we will likely be doing this all over again next summer).
Now don't get me wrong I am grateful
that the Army takes care of packing us but let me tell you the
frustration of opening a large box and finding a single lampshade. Hmm okay. After a while you just have to shake your head and laugh haha especially because that one lampshade is accompanied by 50 pounds of packing paper.
We have curtains hung and almost all of our pictures on the walls. I'm still figuring out how I want some things but it's so nice having more wall space, because we can actually display some of Kyle's military artwork and plaques. Some stuff stayed in boxes from our move to Louisiana because we just didn't have the space for them.
For our anniversary on Wednesday we were able to take a break and check out the zoo in Kansas City. It's HUGE!!! We had so much fun exploring and seeing all of the animals. E was a champ, she braved 3+ hours there and never fussed at all.
The second photo perfectly depicts how she felt about the zoo. She is one happy girl! :) We even survived a late lunch at Cheesecake Factory and a stroll around an outdoor shopping area. This girl is a rockstar!
Tomorrow we will be running our 1st race in Kansas! It's a 5k benefiting Parkinson's Disease, PD Donut Dash. It will be great supporting such a wonderful cause and becoming immersed in the running community here. I am already noticing a difference in my running mostly because the humidity isn't as intense here, thank goodness!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Woohoo Friday! Our boxes arrived yesterday so we'll be spending the morning knee deep in parcel paper I think. (Hopefully we packed a bit less bizarrely than your packers did!). It's so good to have our own stuff again! Good luck with your run tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteGirl you are me. I have to get our stuff unpacked! Had it done in two days here in Boston. I can't live with boxes everywhere and him coming home to that nope. Haha. I hope you guys are loving Kansas.
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Living in boxes is just not my cup of tea. I can't stand it.
DeleteI hope that the boxes stop magically appearing for you, but that's seriously so awesome that you're almost done unpacking! The day at the zoo sounds like the perfect way to spend your anniversary, and E really does look so happy!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you're better than us. We still have stuff in boxes, haha.
ReplyDeleteThat meme about the boxes that weren't unpacked from the last move is so true! I STILL have all my Goodwill boxes waiting to be given away, that will probably make the trip up to Iowa with us.
ReplyDelete1 box for a lampshade, haha! That cracks me up. :)
ReplyDeleteTake your time unpacking, you deserve it! Making a house a home takes time. Glad you got to take some time to celebrate and enjoy the zoo! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being moved in!! What an accomplishment. The zoo looks like so much fun, and I love E's big smile. Happy anniversary!
ReplyDeleteMeg, Borrowed Heaven
My work allows dogs to be brought inside. A woman had her baby (probably same age as your daughter) and she saw a puppy and went nuts. She wanted to play with it.
ReplyDeleteAwww puppies and babies are the best!
DeleteYay for the first race! Also Living in Box city is never fun. We push hard to get that done as soon as possible!
ReplyDeleteDonut Dash? That's a race I can get behind!
ReplyDeleteThat picture is awesome. It makes me smile every time I see it.
ReplyDeleteHurrah that you're all unpacked! I had to laugh with the frog saying! When we moved to Oregon we wound up having a wall of boxes that we thought we'd need..didn't want to store everything. Interesting how much stuff we didn't miss when we finally moved here. Yes, we did use some of the items in those boxes, while other stuff wasn't missed and was let go. Looks like a fun weekend for you with running. The second family photo is adorable and glad Emersyn is a happy camper! Phil and I just got back from a walk a bit ago and it was 85 degrees, 29% humidity. Sky was beautiful! Take care!
ReplyDeleteI love that you jumped right into the running. Good luck with the race. Love that second picture of everyone looking so happy!
ReplyDeleteI am so incredibly impressed that you got everything unpacked and hung already! We're approaching a year in our house and are not there yet. You rock!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rachel! It feels good to have it done and behind us.
DeleteHappy anniversary! Here's wishing you many more years together. My best friend moved last week and I was at her house when the packers were there. It was the first time I'd seen a company pack stuff. They did a very thorough job but you're very right about the packing paper. They definitely didn't scrimp on that!
ReplyDeleteUnpacking is just not fun!! But yeah, I like to just get it done asap! But yeah, what's up with having a box with like 2 things in it? What's the point of that? HAHA
ReplyDeleteShe is such a happy girl, indeed! Love her cheeks!!
Yeah, how stuff gets packed still baffles me, haha. My favorite for this move was how about 40% of our stuff was labeled incorrectly, so the movers put it in the wrong room.
ReplyDeleteWe love checking out the Zoo's in different cities!
ReplyDeleteI hate packers and love them. Like y'all didn't need all that paper for one thing! But it makes it easier for me bc lord knows I don't want to do it. We're moving next summer too and I am not excited about it. Also, you should get that second family pic printed, it's perfect!
