A few weeks ago Kyle joked that once I finish my Master's program that I should consider going for my Ph.D. I'm not going to lie this has been something that I have thought about while laying in bed at night but not something I have given real serious thought. Since he made that comment I have been thinking about it a lot more.
I will graduate with my Master's in Psychology in February and I hope to find work as a CDC (child development center) counselor or even something in management like a director or assistant director. One of the upsides about working would be that I could have Emersyn in the CDC with me and I would have access to her, I know a few people who have done this and it worked out great. Of course, if I don't find work right away I would consider finding a Ph.D program and continuing my education.
I have researched a few programs and would likely pursue a Ph.D in Psychology with a specialization in Educational or School Psychology. For me it is important to always have goals and to push myself to do things that I never thought I would or could do. I want to show Emersyn that no matter how long it takes you can achieve your dreams.
Since we are looking at a move next summer it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. Whatever happens I am excited for the future.
The GI bill lets you go as far as you want in a certain number of years, right?
ReplyDeleteI plan on using Scott's in a few years and am debating the same thing...
Exciting things to consider! I am a school psychologist and it is a very challenging yet rewarding career :)
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! It's definitely a goal of mine.
DeleteSounds like a great idea!!
ReplyDelete:) Thank you!
DeleteWhat a great goal! I'm sure should you choose to go for it you'll accomplish it!
ReplyDeleteThat'd be awesome! Tyler and I have had numerous discussions about me getting my Master's (I have my Bachelor's in Business, a certificate in HR Management, & a certificate in Organizational Leadership & Supervision), but I'm still paying on my student loans & he's set on how imperative it is to have good experience under your belt & resume. I didn't want to hear it at first, but I researched it & understood his point...but it took a while, lol. Can you do a PhD program online? It's such an interesting field you're studying!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! You're so inspirational!! Andy jokes that I should go for a PhD or something so I can use his GI Bill... He doesn't want to play favorites with our kids and let the firstborn have it lol.
ReplyDeleteMore power to ya girl!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou have so many exciting things to look forward to, regardless of what happens! I've been toying with the idea of going back for my PhD for a couple months now, only because someone else brought it up, too! I support you in whichever path you choose :) I'm just so excited to see Emersyn!
ReplyDeleteDr. Jen. Why not! I say if you have the time and motivation to do it, higher education never can hurt you.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm so excited to see what you decide!!! Dr Jen has a nice ring to it!
ReplyDeleteYes, you could SO be a doctor. How awesome would that be??!
ReplyDelete:) Thank you! I'm definitely considering it.
DeleteIt's great to have options. The GI Bill is such a great benefit! Might as well make use of it while they still let us.
ReplyDeleteYou go, girl!! If it's something you've been thinking hard about it, why not give it a go!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a motivated person! That is so fantastic! If you're thinking about it, you totally should! I absolutely love that you've already thought into jobs, and how they will benefit you and Emersyn! Such a great mommy!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a solid plan! If you are considering, then I think you should go for it.
ReplyDeleteDr Jen does have a nice ring to it! =) Either way, I know you'll be amazing!
