My Dad made it safely at 2am this morning and it is so nice to have him here. He willingly does the things around the house that Kyle and I haven't had a chance to do yet (the perks of having a Dad that has been in the construction business for 35 years lol). The weather was beautiful today so we spent most of the day outside.
On Wednesday, we had our last big FRG event. I have to say that I have never seen a group have so much fun bowling. We spent three hours with the soldiers and their families having a great time. I had a chance to speak to everyone before it started and I'm not going to lie, I got a little teary eyed. I'm going to miss this group, with everyone getting sent to their new units it has been rough. They are family to us and it sucks to have to say goodbye. It was a nice way to spend the day for sure.
Tomorrow we have our 4th race of year and over the last few days I have
been looking for other ones to participate in. I believe as of right now
we have a list of 16 races that we will be doing, a few of those we are
already registered for. After my surgery next week I will be taking 2
weeks off from any physical activity to just rest. I am sure it will be
much needed.
I hope you all have a great weekend!!
I'm glad you all had fun bowling! Good luck at your race (not that you need it).
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Enjoy the time with your dad. Glad he can help around the house. It's always nice to have an extra hand or two. Good luck with your race tomorrow! Is it a St. Patrick's Day race?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a wonderful turnout for your event. I'm sure it's sad to see them leave but think of the friendships that you have made that will last forever.
I will be thinking of you next week and hope everything goes well with your surgery. You are strong and have Kyle by your side. Enjoy your weekend!

I'm glad your dad arrived save and sound. The constant good-byes where one of the reasons we decided that Army life wasn't for us, they are just way too hard. Little did we know that we would end up in Erlangen with a strong expat community, and every once in a while, someone is leaving, and it's really hard of we have come close to them. Enjoy your race, and all the best to you for the surgery!
ReplyDeleteWe have nice blue skies today after it rained this a.m. I hope to spend a little in it besides driving tomorrow. It's always nice to have jovs done around the house by a family member who knows what he's doing. My mom would ask Phil to do things for her after dad died. Wow, that's alot of races. There's one in Portland on Sunday, shamrock run! :-} Have a nice visit with your dad!
ReplyDeleteI love having my dad around! It was especially nice when John was deployed.
