We arrived home last night after 2 wonderful weeks with family. I am so thankful that we have 2 loving families to spend time with. I probably won't end up recapping the trip but just know that it was awesome!
I am still in shock that it is already 2014, I feel like every year just goes by faster than the last. I don't normally set goals for myself at the beginning of a new year but I figured this year it would be fun to try.
1. Continue running and enjoy it! I honestly love running but thanks to a few people they made me feel poorly about it. I will not let anything get me down this year.
2. Keep saving money. We have a set amount that goes into our savings account every month and I want to bump up the amount this year.
3. Really take a look at friendships and get rid of the toxic ones. This is going to be a challenge but I know that it needs to be done.
4. Spend as much time with family this year since we could potentially move to DC next year.
5. Start reading again, I used to read at least 2 books a month but haven't had the time lately.
6. Communicate better with Kyle, believe me things aren't always butterflies and roses. I need to get better about telling him how I feel.
7. Take one day a month for me! Kyle always tell me that I do so much for everyone else that I get burnt out. He is right so I need to make me a priority as well.
8. Last but not least, continue to try and have a baby. I have a feeling this will always be a goal until it happens.
Well there are my goals for the year! :)
I hope you all are having a great start to the year.
Those are all great goals! I wish you a wonderful 2014
ReplyDeleteSounds like you made some great goals for yourself!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to start reading again too! I don't understand why this is so difficult as an adult.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year and good luck with all your goals!
ReplyDeleteThank you Hana!
DeleteHow can someone make you feel poorly about running. It's great for you and you kick butt at it. Here's to a happy and healthy 2014!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour goals look so much like mine! Well, minus the baby making thing. I'm not there, yet. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best of luck. Happy New Year!!
I'm with you on saving money! Good luck!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals!
ReplyDeleteThose all sound great! I need to make some goals in my life as well. Happy 2014. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful goals for this year. You are doing so amazing with your running! Keep up the great work. I think taking a day for yourself is such a wonderful idea. Even if it's just a pedicure or a massage it really makes a difference! Wow, the East Coast!!!! That last one, I hope that for you always!!!! xoxo Cheers to a wonderful 2014!!!
ReplyDeleteGood to know you're safely home and had a great time with family. I remember those young years....good times! I have a few goals myself and reading is one of them. Also knitting, a few sewing projects, especially quilt for my granddaughter. I've been stalling too long. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI think those are some great goals. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about running because you are an inspiration! I am going to start running when it warms up.
ReplyDeleteLove your goals. We should all try to make more time for our families and ourselves. I try to help J understand how I'm feeling but often fail. If anyone makes you feel bad about your running just remember they are probably just jealous!
ReplyDeleteI wish I hadn't stopped running. Also, I need to head back over to the library and get a new book!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Jen! I love these goals. Especially the one about possibly moving to DC... got my fingers crossed for that one. haha :)
ReplyDeleteThose are great goals! I can't believe someone made you feel bad about running. You are doing an awesome job with your training!
ReplyDeleteSomeone made you feel poorly about running?! You are honestly the most rockstar runner I know. I haven't quite made the plunge, but seeing how much you enjoy it, really makes me want to try.
ReplyDeleteI've also decided that I'm going to take time for myself. Lately, I'm not doing much, but with you having all of your FRG stuff going on, it's important to focus on yourself as well.
Good goals! I think number 3 is a good one for me too. I can't believe someone made you feel bad about running. You're awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove your goals, Jen! Who the heck did you make feel poorly about running? It's such a great way to decompress, to stay fit all-over and even to meditate! Can't wait for the evenings to be light again so I can head out again! Also like the friends purging. I agree, it's hard but necessary sometime, and from experience I know that you'll feel so much better afterward!! To a very Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, sweet friend! Love your goals for 2014. Rooting for you always!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreat goals! Amazing goals! I think you absolutely deserve to take some time for yourself, even if it is more than once a month. I need to do the same!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals. I have been he same with books, but last year I was disappointed at how fee books I read.
ReplyDeleteThose are always great goals! Especially #7! You've got to make sure to make time for you... you're important too! : )
ReplyDeleteThat is one good list of goals! Number three is my favorite, I need to do that myself!
ReplyDelete:) Thanks Courtney!
DeleteSuch great goals! 2014 seems like such a great year already. I think it might be due to my obsession with even numbers, but regardless bring it on! You are awesome, and don't you forget that!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and your life must be so exciting, I think your the first army wife blog I follow and your goals are amazing. That's so impressive you used to read 2 books a month-these are great inspiring goals. Hope you make them all

Thank you!!!! :)
DeleteI love your resolutions! Happy New Year friend!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a very happy New Year, Jen! Your goal list sounds great!
ReplyDeleteGood luck at accomplishing your goals!
ReplyDeleteLove your goals. The one about toxic friendships really hit me hard, we have a few friends that we would probably be better off moving on from, but it's just so hard sometimes! Happy New Year friend!
ReplyDeleteWishing you luck with every single goal. If you move to DC we might get to meet you, woot!! My son's there right now too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that someone made you feel bad about your running! The best part of running is that it's individual. Every race is just against yourself and your abilities. I guess haters gonna hate. Just focus on doing you and enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteAs for reading, I use Goodreads to log my books, get suggestions, and look for other good books. If you are already on it, you should friend me! Have a great 2014, Jen!
Thanks so much Amy! :) I've heard about Goodreads, I need to definitely check it out.
DeleteGoodreads is great for finding good books to read! Kind of like Yelp, but for books. I'll go to the library, and if I see something that I think might be good, I always check the reviews on Goodreads first. That way I don't wind up wasting my time reading a not so great book.
ReplyDeleteGlad you guys had a nice time in Vegas!
these are great goals. i'm sure you will be successful with them all!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these. I wish I had more time to read as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI pray that 2014 is the year for you and Kyle to become a family of 3. <3
Those are wonderful goals! I hope you can work towards them throughout the year!
ReplyDeleteThose are great goals! It's hard to put yourself first sometimes, I struggle with that and with communicating as well. I like to keep my feelings bottled up. I'm always afraid to hurt someone's feelings.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with those goals!!!!
I love all of these! I am setting goals this year as well instead of resolutions. Just things I want to work on instead of hard resolutions I will end up breaking!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you take more time for YOU, the baby will come ;) I think Will and I are really good at communicating, but then we get in little tiffs about some things, because I won't tell him something. I guess I just forget that we REALLY think differently than our mates. For savings, I made a goal a few years back for what I want to save each year, and then I divide it by twelve. That amount is factored into our budget, and it's treated just like any other bill. This year we probably won't add any to savings, but my goal is to just keep it where it is ;)
