Isn't living on post supposed to be safe?!

While I was on vacation in Vegas my good friend (who was checking on my house) called me and left me a pretty urgent voicemail. I dreaded calling her back because I thought something happened to our cat. Thankfully that wasn't the case but she informed me that my neighbors house was broken into! Someone had gotten in through her kitchen window and stole ALL of her electronics (I think it was the same person who was banging on my door at 11:45pm the night before I headed to Vegas). I was instantly freaked out especially since I was 3,000 miles away at the time. I immediately called housing and asked if MP's would be patrolling more frequently and then response I got was "Well we can't control what the MP's do". Duh! You can always ask!!

As soon as I got back to NC I installed window alarms and an alarm on the door. I also bought a motion sensor for outside that detects if anyone is on my porch. I can honestly say the first few nights back home I was incredibly paranoid and freaked out. I never thought I would have to feel that way living on post. It figures something like this would happen while Kyle is deployed.  We don't have any weapons in the house with the exception of a very large butcher knife but I have a feeling that wouldn't help much. I am been on the hunt for a gun and thank goodness for my Dad going with me to help me find something I am comfortable with.

I know not everywhere is 100% safe but it sure would be nice to atleast feel safe. It has been quiet here the last few days, let's just hope it continues!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
