July Goal

Last month I met my goal of running 50 miles. I knew that this month I needed to increase that, so I opted for a 65 mile goal. I'm only 8.6 miles away from that! There is nothing better than getting a good run in. Distance doesn't matter as long as you get out there and try. I'm not a treadmill runner, I have to be outside.

Over the next 5-6 months I have several races that I will be participating in:

August 3rd: Fort Bliss 10 Miler
September 15th: Color Run El Paso
October 26th: Flying Horse 1/2 Marathon
November 16th: Fort Bliss 1/2 Marathon
February 2014: Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon

There are a few other races that I'm deciding on if I want to do or not.

If you have ever had any doubts about running don't! Just go do it. You won't regret it, I sure don't.

  2. Woo-hoo! If you keep up with your running, I have no doubt that you'll smash the EP full! I'd love to hear more about your training! Are you going to keep running solo or join a running group? Do you have a training plan? I'm using the Run Less, Run Faster plan to train for it, but I've had great success with Hal Higdon's plan and highly recommend it!

I was planning to run a half in Las Cruces at the beginning of November, but I might shift my plans to the Fort Bliss half. I didn't realize that's when it is, and it's just too darn close to pass up!

    1. Thanks Amy!! I run solo most of the time and then also with a friend. I don't think I could join a running group. I try to run 6 days a week. 2 of those being longer distances. You should definitely run the fort bliss half! Registration should open in September.

  3. I'm setting a 50 miles goal for August! I'm not a treadmill runner either - outside all the way! :) You're such a motivation to me!

  5. Dang, girl!! You are awesome! You are going to have a BLAST at The Color Run!! It's SO much fun. I finally put on my running shoes last night, after many, many weeks of not doing it. I ran 1.13 & only stopped once at 0.58 miles! I did it in 11 minutes & 43 seconds. I don't know if that's good or not (I am not to the point of caring about the time), but someone told me that was good, ha! I was in a 'mood' so it went by fast than what I thought! You're such an inspiration!

  7. I'm definitely an outside runner too, but had to head to the gym this morning. I just can't do a heat index of 93! :)

  13. Damn!! I envy your running.
I always feel guilty if I go for a walk/run without my dog. She's a big girl that needs exercise, but this heat and running is WAY too much for her. I prefer the outdoors over a treadmill also.

  14. That's awesome! I tried 2 miles the other day and I thought I was going to die. I am the opposite when it comes to the treadmill. I prefer that over outside.

  15. I really don't like running, but it has to be done! I prefer my treadmill cause I can catch up on my shows and not think about the run. But I do enjoy the occassional outside run and I'm no where near the distances you are going! Great job!

  17. Amazing, a marathon by January, that's so exciting. Definitely on my bucket list, even though I will have to work hard for that. I hope to be able to run in the Night Run on September 6, but my body has to cooperate first :-(

  18. I am still working on my love/hate relationship with running, love the idea of it but hate doing it!! Because it is so stinking hot and humid here, and I start back to work next week (where did my summer go????), we have decided to join a gym and start doing treadmill runs so we can run when it is convenient to us and not when it is cooler outside (NEVER in south GA!).
