I love dress shopping!!

I mentioned the other day that we have the St. Barbara's Day Ball in December, well Kyle came home the other day and said to me "So yea we have the Division Ball in December." So thats means two formals back to back, yippee! I already have one dress that I bought a few months ago because I couldn't pass it up and it gives me a reason to get myself back into shape. Now I get to go dressing shopping for another, here is the dress I bought a few months ago:

These pictures don't do the dress justice at all, it really is beautiful! I am on the hunt now for a red dress for the St. Barbara's Day Ball. I am going back to Vegas around Thanksgiving so hopefully I can get lucky and find something there. This will be out last time attending this formal as Kyle will no longer be Field Artillery after June. I found this dress online and I may try to find something similar:

Well, I better get off here have to figure something out for dinner before we leave for Kyle's soccer practice, speaking of they are off to a good start. They won their first game on Thursday 2-1. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

It keeps getting better and better!!

Well 21 days have passed and my mom is back in Arizona for another appointment. My dad called me earlier and told that the first tests came back good, her lungs are functioning properly, white blood cell count is good...they were just waiting on her tumor markers.

Well we finally got those results:

Month 1: 185
Month 2: 154
Month 3: 99.3!!!!!!!

The normal range is between 0 and 35....that goal seems so attainable!

All I could say on the phone was wow! We are in such awe of how her treatments are going and pray that these good results continue!!! Praise God! Thank you everyone for the constant love, support and prayers!

Sore!!

Oh man, yesterday I decided it was time to get myself in shape. On top of running a 5k in November, we have the St. Barbara's Day Ball in December. I really would like to lose about 15 pounds. The last two days I have been going to the gym for about an hour and boy am I sore! I'm going to start going during the week before work and I can't wait to see some results. I'm hoping that it will make me feel better during the day as well, I need a little bit more energy during the day.

We have enjoyed a pretty quiet weekend, I have gotten lots of cleaning done. I even shampooed our carpet downstairs, it just seemed dirty from when we moved in so we went and bought a new carpet shampooer....this thing is fancy! I swear it looks like a spaceship haha. Kyle thinks I'm crazy but cleaning is fun for me.

On a pretty exciting note (well exciting to me lol), my mom was able to get out of the house this weekend and go to the races. My Dad said everyone was so happy to see her, it has been since May since she had been out there. I was able to watch it online and hearing the announcers welcome her back was so sweet. My Dad didn't win the main race but he won a special race called "the duck race". I was sooo happy that they were able to spend a day there and even pick up a win. She is headed to Arizona today for another treatment, please keep her in your prayers as we are hoping for good news again!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Another Weekend Gone.

Another weekend is gone and we are already halfway through August...holy cow!!! I took Friday off work so I could attend Kyle's Battalion Organizational Day. It was a lot of fun! It was out at Smith Lake, they had a huge bounce house for kids, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes and everyones favorite, the Dunk Tank!! We got all 4 battery commanders to agree to go in the dunk tank, it was $1 for 3 balls. I do believe that Alpha Battery raised $239 haha. I have some pretty funny videos of the commanders being dunked. We spent about 3 hours there and headed home. We had grocery shopping to get done and we all know how crazy to commissary is on pay day so we just hit up Sam's Club (I think we spent over $400 on groceries for the two of us, really?!?! lol)

HHB Commander getting dunked!

Saturday, at about 10am we headed out to Sicily Drop Zone. Kyle was going to try and get on a jump that was happening, but we got all the way out there and they had too many soldiers and not enough chutes. Go figure. We went home and relaxed a little while before Kyle's soccer practice at 5:30, it was incredibly humid, I am so ready for fall! I am excited that he will be playing for the battalion team again, we had so much fun last year, hopefully they can take the championship this year instead of a runner-up finish like last year.

This was a picture I took on our way to Siciliy Drop Zone! I Iove watching Paratroopers jump!!

Sunday was cleaning day!! My hubby is pretty awesome when it comes to cleaning, he vaccumed both downstairs and upstairs, cleaned our cats room (yes, Fishy has his own room) and did laundry. It was nice to get the house back in order as I feel like I have been slacking lately. I was pretty excited for dinner that night because I had gotten up at 6am to put a yummy pork shoulder in the crock pot, my first attempt at making pulled pork was  HUGE success! It was yummy!!

Hopefully this week will be relatively easy, my boss is on vacation for the week. I plan on becoming a hermit and staying in my office to get stuff done I can't when he is here.

Have a great week everyone!!!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Mid-Week Break

I am beyond ready for this day to be over. On top of being buried under paperwork and files, I had to deal with not one but THREE screaming children this afternoon. Don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE kids just not the ones that don't know how to behave. After leaving the courthouse and getting stuck behind a train for 45 minutes I was already annoyed. I get back to the office where three little boys were screaming at the top of their lungs while their parents were in a closing. After being asked nicely a few times to quiet down the mom finally came out and took them outside. Let the headache commence!

Tonight, I have my online open house for school and I'm pretty excited. It will be pretty cool to see my virtual classrooms. Tomorrow I get a break from all the mayhem in the office, I get to sit in a Notary Public class for 8 hours, yea I guess when you say it out loud it sounds pretty boring. Plus, I am taking Friday off so that I can attend Kyle's battalion organizational day. It will be a fun day of hanging out by the lake, good food and hanging out with some great people. Yay for 3 day work weeks!

If you haven't had a chance to check out my page for the 5k that Kyle and I will be participating in on November 7th, click on the picture to the right and it will take you directly to my page. I have had a few donations already and I am so thankful.

Happy Tuesday!!

5k for Pancreatic Cancer

Kyle and I registered today for the PurpleStride Raleigh Durham 5k on November 7th to support finding a cure for Pancreatic Cancer. I have created a website for donations through the organization. I am really excited about this because it is something that is so dear to my heart. If you would like to donate to the organization here is a link to do so:

Any donation is appreciated, my goal to raise before the 5k is $1,000. I am hoping that with the amazing support from family and friends we can achieve this goal.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!!

Is it September yet?!

I know it is barely into August but I am ready for it to be over! Not that it has been a bad month we just have some fun stuff planned for September. My brother-in-law ,Chris, works for a professional Top Fuel race team and we are heading up to Charlotte for the NHRA Carolina Nationals the middle of September. We are super excited, it has been a while since we have seen him so we are really looking forward to it. He was nice enough to get us a room already and arrange our food situation so we can eat with the team. The company that owns the team actually has a special tie to the military. Kalitta Air is actually the company that brings home fallen soldiers from overseas. Connie Kalitta loves the military and offered his services to do this. He is truly amazing! Here is a picture of the team celebrating after they won the national event in Denver:

My brother in law is on the far left hand side.

I really can't believe though that it is already August this year is just flying by! Pretty soon it will be Christmas again and then 2011 will be right around the corner. Sheesh!

I wanted to leave you with this picture:

Answered Prayers

My dad called me this afternoon and gave me some fantastic news!!! He and my mom headed to Arizona yesterday for her appointment. She had a scan at 9am today to see if there are any changes with her cancer. Well there are big changes, the cancer in her right lung has reduced. Her tumor markers went from 186 to 150!!!!! Wow!!! The nodules in her chest haven't gotten bigger or smaller, they have stabilized. We couldn't have ask for any better news at this point. She received one round of introvenous chemo and should be back home in a few hours. She will do another 10 day regiment of chemo pills starting on Sunday. She is in such great spirits and it warmed my heart because I hear the hope in her voice.

We know that the power of prayer is so amazing and we are thankful for all the love, support and prayers that everyone has given our family.
