A while back I decided that I wanted to go back to school. I wasn't keen on the idea of taking out student loans. Once Kyle hit his 6 year mark in the Army he was able to sign over his Post 9/11 GI Bill to me. The only catch is that he would incur an additional 4 years in service. That isn't a big deal because he plans on staying in for at least 20 years.
I got my certificate of eligibility from the VA yesterday, I emailed it over to the American Military University where I'm already enrolled at. Now I just wait! I spoke to my academic advisor and it should only take a few days to get the funds. I'm so excited to finally finish my psychology degree with a minor in child development and become a counselor.
Kyle is enrolled here as well and he loves it. It will be nice when we both finish our degrees (his masters and my bachelors).
Well, it's time for me to catch my flight! Hope you all have a great day!
Yaaayy congratulations!!! What a great opportunity for you! I can't wait to read all about your studies.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I was tossing around the idea of doing AMU for a certificate program and/or master's. In the end, I opted to take some free online courses first to see if I'm ready to take the plunge. I'm just about to finish paying off my nearly $80k(!) undergrad debt and don't want to take on more loans. My husband offered to give me his post-9/11 GI bill, but I'd rather save it for our kids (though who knows). Enjoy going back to school! I got my bachelor's in psychology and sociology, so let me know if you have questions or want to chat about counseling (I looked into how I could make it work as a milspouse). :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!! That's awesome! John is doing his masters courses through AMU also and has had a pretty good experience. (: Good luck!!
