Weekend Happenings

On Friday around 5 my Dad got here after driving 8 hours from Vegas. It was so awesome to have him here to see where we are living. He is always busy with work so this might be his only chance to visit. We had a great dinner at a Greek restaurant in town and relaxed the rest of the evening. We got up on Saturday, I made breakfast and we headed off to spend the day in Tombstone. We had a blast!!! While at lunch at Big Nose Kate's Saloon we decided it would be fun to have a shot of whiskey at a saloon while in Tombstone haha. The whiskey we had was rumored to be what Doc Holliday drank. It was awesome!!

Me and Dad at lunch

In a local store in Tombstone I found these awesome measuring spoons:

They are mostly definitely me!

This morning we had breakfast at a yummy local cafe and Dad headed home at about 11am and we headed to Tucson. We had to get Kyle measured for a tux for his brothers wedding next month. We shopped around a bit and enjoyed the amazing weather!!

On the way home we were listening to the radio and a local country station was having a contest for 2 tickets to the Easton Corbin concert on Saturday in Tucson. Well I knew I had the right answer to the question and after calling 58 times I got through and won the tickets!!!! Kyle and I were cracking up the whole time, I honestly didn't care about the tickets I just wanted to prove that I knew the right answer. LOL! Now we have all of our weekend plans next week. The Easton Corbin concert on Saturday and the Cardinals and Eagles game on Sunday. It will be a great weekend!!!

Now it's time to relax on the couch and watch racing! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

Quick Update

I haven't done an update in a little while and I figured I might as well. This past weekend Kyle's parents were here visiting and we had a great time! We were able to show them around a little bit and we all enjoyed spending time together.

This weekend my Dad will be here visiting. I am excited that he is able to take time off from all the side work he has been doing on the weekends to come see us. We will be taking him to Tombstone and showing him around town. It will be great!!

A few weeks ago I posted that I was going to Vegas on October 3rd, I actually moved my trip up by a week so now I will be heading there on September 24th. It will be nice to have 3 whole weeks with the family instead of just 2! I'm sure Kyle will be playing tons of video games and enjoying some silence without me here haha. I won't see him until October 19th when he drives up to Vegas for his brother's wedding and then we will head home together on the 21st. We are still waiting for his branch manager to come down and interview his class (he hasn't heard anything about when she is coming). She is supposed to be here next but who knows it seems that things keep getting pushed back. Does she not realize that she is giving me severe anxiety! LOL!

Oh and I have a little rant for today. I went get my oil changed at Jiffy Lube (because I refuse to pay the $55 that Toyota wants), I told them what I wanted and the guy was super nice and came in to tell me that he suggested I have my cabin filter replaced (I watched him pull it out of my car, I am the crazy lady that will watch a mechanic and make sure they are doing what they are supposed to and nothing more, I thank my Dad for teaching me that). I looked at him completely confused because before we moved in May we paid over $500 to have the 40K mile maintenance done (at the Toyota dealership in NC) and that should have been done. He brought the filter in and you could tell that it had never been changed. I was LIVID!! It makes me wonder what else didn't get done that was supposed to. The guy felt so bad that he actually gave me a discount on the filter. Of course I contacted the dealership in NC and no one has called me back, shocker!

I'm going to leave you with this picture:

You think she loves him?! :)

I hope you all have a great weekend!!

Weight Loss Goals

Before we moved from NC I had an awesome routine of going to the gym everyday and using this app:

myfitnesspal

I was diligent about logging my workouts and meals. It worked wonders and I lost 10 pounds! I was so happy and I know that most of the weight I had gained was from fertility drugs and treatments. I finally felt good about myself and was determined to lose another 10 pounds. Well then we moved and spent the next months in limbo; between traveling and seeing family my weight loss suffered. I didn't gain anything back but I wasn't losing.

Last week I decided that I needed to get back to my weight loss effort. I don't like doing diets, I don't have to cut anything out but I do eat in moderation. I eat until I am satisfied not until I am full. I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day and drink a diet soda maybe twice a month. It has done wonders and I feel amazing.

Instead of going back to the gym I have decided to go on long walks instead (believe me Fort Huachuca has some awesome hills and I get a good workout). I get up in the morning, have breakfast and turn this on:

runkeeper

This is another app that I love, I have been trying to walk at least 3 miles per day and so far I have been successful.

I'm not afraid to tell everyone my weight:

When I started this weight loss journey about 6 months ago I was:

146 pounds

I went down to:

136 pounds

After 1 week back on this journey, I weigh:

133.4

Woo hoo!!!

I want to get down to 125 and I know that I can do it!

What do you use to help with working out and weight loss?

Food Obsession

First of all, I just want to say welcome to all my new followers! Having 163 followers is amazing and I want to keep you guys interested in my blog and I hope I have done a good job thus far.

Ever since I was a little kid I have been obsessed with cooking and baking. My Mom was an amazing cook/baker and I wanted to learn as much as I could from her. I loved watching her make new things and try new recipes, she was never afraid of anything. I wanted to be like her and honestly I hope I make her proud.

For those who haven't been following me for that long in addition to this blog I also have a food blog called:

I love having this blog!!! 3 days a week I post recipes and include detailed step by step instructions along with pictures. I also have a FB page for the blog so that the followers will know when a new recipe has been posted:

Feel free to head on over to the page and like it, or just follow my blog! I would love to have you.

Happy Wednesday!! Hope you all have an amazing day!

Never Forget

I will never forget where I was and how I felt on this tragic day. This event changed the face of our country and all Americans.

Earlier this year Kyle and I had the privilege to go to the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero. I will never forget that experience and the feelings I felt. All those people that lost their lives and families who are forever changed just makes me angry and sad.

I am proud to be married to a man that fights everyday to protect our freedom so that another act like this does not happen. I am proud of all the men and women in the United States Military!

Let us never forget!!!

I'm a Tomboy!

For my friends that have known me for a long time they know my love of Drag Racing. My Dad started racing when I was 4 years old and I was hooked. I spent almost every weekend at the track hanging out and when I got older I spent the weekends helping out my Dad on the car. We did it as a family, my Dad would not race unless my Mom was there. He had to see her on the starting line or he wasn't racing. We would travel out of town for races and have an amazing time with friends and family.

It was an amazing way to grow up and I still look forward to the races that I can get home to see my Dad race. We even all have team shirts; flamed shirts with our name on them and we all wore flame converse like this:

This is my race shirt:

When I was in HS friends would ask me to hang out and my response was "You can come to the racetrack but I'm not missing my Dad race." I'm sure my friends got sick of hearing but it's what I loved and still love to this day. There is nothing like standing on the starting line watching my Dad race.

I love racing, it is my passion and I hate being a fan in the stands haha. Going to the NHRA Nationals Events is something else that I love. I am like a giddy kid when I go. My brother-in-law worked on a professional Top Fuel team for 9 years and it was amazing watching him work and do what he enjoyed. Since Kyle and I got married he has been hooked to racing, he loves it as much as I do. It is great to be able to share your passion with your spouse.

Here are some of my most favorite pictures from the track over the years:

Sorry for the horrible quality I had to pull these off my Dads website

If any of you have ever seen the show "Pinks" on the Speed Channel you may have caught the episode filmed at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was the most amazing experience and when the episode aired we were shocked to see my Dad and our friend Greg were the pair they showed 1st going down the track. I love this video because you can see my Mom pulling him into the water (she is the cool lady in the flamed shirt) Check this out:

So this is a little insight into my life and what I love to be a part of!!! Hope you enjoyed getting to know this part of me.

Happy Monday!!

Sunday Social

This is my first week participating in the Sunday Social. I figured why the heck not! :)

Sunday Social

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??

The Adventures of Our Army Life. When Kyle and I got married it was a whole new adventure being married to the military and I figured why not name my blog that. (Not very exciting I know haha)

2. What do you love the most about blogging??

I love that I can vent, share hard times and good times but still have the amazing support from all my bloggy ladies!

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?

He Is Home!

Infertility Journey

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?

Don't focus on how many followers or comments you get, focus on why you want to blog. Honestly, who cares of no one reads it just do it for yourself!

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?

See my answer above lol. I had to learn to not care if no one commented or read what I wrote. I had to write for me and no one else. This is my therapy.

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.

A Boy, A Girl, and The Marine Corp

Stars, Stripes, and a Military Life

Dandelions and Daffodils

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!!!
