Vacation....yes please!

Kyle and I have one week left until we hop on a plane to Vegas (yes I was just there a few weeks ago), we are sooo excited!!! He has not been home since Christmas 2008 so it is long overdue for him. We decided not to travel on 4th of July weekend. (as I'm sure airports here in NC will be packed, 82nd Airborne Division will be starting block leave) We usually go to Wilmington for 4th of July but we changed plans. We are headed up to Charlotte to go to Carowinds! Of course, we are both rollercoaster fanatics so it seemed like a great idea.

We are excited to spend time together with both of our families, since he won't be around much in the next year it will be amazing!! My sister and I have a "date" planned to see Eclipse together and I am really excited. I haven't talked a lot about my sister but I figured now is a good time. Lisa is 4 years older than me, but never treated me like her annoying little sister, she has been there for me through so much. I couldn't imagine my life without her, it will be great to spend quality time with her.

In about a month Kyle will hopefully be heading off to the Pre-Ranger Course, so if he makes it he probably won't be home until the end of November. I will miss him but I know this is what he wants and I will support him no matter what (here is hoping our 1st round of clomid works haha).

Well, I better get back to work, I plan on catching up on blogs tonight!

Happy Monday!!

Change of scenery?! I wish....

I am sitting here watching it storm outside, really?! The one thing I dislike about NC is the unpredictable weather, one minute it is bright and sunny...the next pouring down rain! This is the time of the year in the Army when people typically get new orders and leave. Not us, we are here for atleast another 2 years (thanks to Kyle being branch detail), he won't officially become MI until next year. So that means no leaving here for Arizona until 2012. I am ready for a change, it will be nice to be in Arizona even if it is only for 5 months. We have already been talking about where we want to go after his career course, here is what we are thinking:

1. Fort Lewis, Washington

2. Fort Carson, Colorado

3. Fort Campbell, Kentucky

We are REALLY wanting Washington but of course will be happy with anything from his wishlist. Only a few years before we find out haha.

* I figured I would post an update on my infertility struggles. I officially start Clomid tomorrow, we are super excited to begin this process and hopefully we will have a successful outcome! We are keeping our fingers crossed!!!

* I talked to my Mom earlier today and she seems to be doing ok after her first round of chemo last week. They really started her out heavy with a total of 11 hours of chemo spanning over 3 days. She has had a rough time keeping food down but everyday it is getting a little better. She will head back down to Arizona on July 6th for another round of chemo, lets hope it is working!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Pictures...

I have been meaning to post a few pictures of the new house so I figured now is a good time. I took the pics right after I got back from Vegas so please don't mind the mess. We didn't have everything put away but you still get an idea of what the house looks like:

The other 3 bedrooms are a little smaller than the Master so I figured I wouldn't post pictures of those as they also contain a lot of boxes, haha.

Once we get everything the way we want I will post more.

This weekend will be spent planting flowers, hanging plants and getting the backyard all situated (ie: grill, patio furniture set out, tiki torches up and firepit put back together). I am looking forward to getting outside this weekend, hopefully our nice weather sticks around for a bit longer.

I hope everyone is having a great day!!

Happy Anniversary!!

Today is such a special day it is our 2nd Anniversary!! We celebrated it this weekend by heading up to Raleigh on Saturday to spend the day. We got up there around 1pm and headed for the Farmer's Market. It was amazing!!! All the fresh fruit, vegetables, and crafts were awesome, we had a great time walking around and seeing everything. We plan on heading up there another weekend to stock up on fruits and veggies. We then headed over to the Crabtree Valley Mall, all I can say is WOW! It was massive!!! It was like it's own city, definitely worth a trip back. Of course, my favorite part of the day was dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, we ate way too much but it was sooo worth it. Overall, we had a wonderful day, here is a picture of us at dinner:

Happy Anniversary, Kyle!! I love you so very much! Here's to 60 more years!!

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend and are having a great Monday!!

Home Sweet Home

I got back home to NC at about 12:30am on Sunday, I was beyond happy to see my husband. It had been a long day of traveling and I was ready to get home, but instead I had to deal with Delta regarding my lost luggage. Haha go figure, the Atlanta airport didn't put my bag on the plane. It was finally delivered at about 11:30pm on Sunday, better late than never.

We have spent the last few days getting things in order at the new house. I had spent a total of 2 nights in the house since we moved in, so it was nice to get acclamated. Last night, we drove up to Raleigh to meet up with Kyle's Uncle Greg, he plays saxophone with The Eagles (yes the band) and they are in town for a show this week. It was great to finally meet him,we ate at Bonefish Grill, which I highly recommend! Yum!!

We are looking forward to this weekend as we are going to celebrate 2 wonderful years of marriage. Our anniversary it actually Monday, June 21st, but we want to go up to Raleigh to spend the day. I can't wait!!! Yay!!

We got some good news today regarding my Mom, her cancer is very treatable!! Praise God!! She will start chemo tomorrow and will have it for 3 days a month for 3 months to start. We are so thankful for all the prayers and well wishes they are definitely working. We have a scare on Sunday as my Dad collapsed in the cafeteria of the treatment center. They thought it was possibly a heart attack (he had one in 2008), but they realized it was stress and anxiety induced, he is doing much much better.

I am slowly getting caught up on everyones blogs, I am really enjoying reading them!

I also want to take the chance to say congrats to my amazing husband on being promoted to Captain, even though I wasn't there physically I was there in spirit. Here is a picture a friend took for me:

Happy Tuesday!!!

The long journey ahead.

This morning I dropped my Mom and Dad off at the airport so they could fly to Phoenix. It was bittersweet for me because I won't see her when she comes back. Thankfully Kyle and I will be back in July to visit. She has been so strong this whole time and she has not lost her sense of humor. We are all so grateful for the love, support and prayers that everyone has sent her way, it is truly amazing!! This will be a long journey but she will get better, I just know it!!!

I am looking forward to Friday because my sister, Lisa, and I will be geting tattoos in support of Mom. It will be a Monarch Butterfly and the body of the butterfly will be the pancreatic cancer ribbon, and underneath it will say Mom. I can't wait to post a picture when it is done.

I know I have been a horrible blogger when it comes to responding to comments and commenting on posts. I promise that I will get back to it. I just want everyone to know that I have read every single comment and each one means sooo much!!! Thank you!!

I will be headed home to North Carolina on Saturday, I am excited to see Kyle and the animals. I have missed them all very much!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Wonderful News

We got wonderful news this afternoon....the insurance was approved and my mom will be headed to Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Goodyear, AZ next week!!! We are so amazed at the power of prayer.

I do have to share a sweet story from today.....my Dad had made a comment to my sister Lisa and I that he felt bad that he hadn't gotten my mom anything (flowers, cards, etc). So we mentioned that to my mom and her response was this "He did give me a gift, he is sending me to a place that will save my life". We told our Dad tonight was she said and of course the tears flowed.

We are thankful for all the prayers, God is working!!!

  • I had my doctors appt this morning, it went good!
  • Kyles promotion ceremony was changed to tomorrow and unfortunately I will miss it :(
  • I am getting on a plane at 5:30am to fly out to Vegas.

The Ugly "C" Word.......

I am trying to write down all the jumbled thoughts in my head.....not sure how coherant this is going to be but here goes:

My beautiful, strong, wonderful mom, Kathy, was diagnosed with cancer yesterday. I never thought I would have to hear those awful words. She went into the hospital with flu like symptoms and the doctors discovered several tumors and nodules.

She is resting comfortably right now as the Doctors prepare a game plan. As soon as I get the word from my Dad I am on a plane to Vegas. I am angry, scared, frustrated...but hopeful that she can beat this.

Please keep our family in your prayers but especially keep my mom in your prayers. She is the most beautiful person inside and out that I have ever known.
